I have been practicing as a full spectrum doula since 2014, beginning by training with The Doula Project in New York as a birth doula and a perinatal loss and abortion doula, and then becoming a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula through Doula Trainings International. I have worked with clients who speak French, Spanish, and English, and am proud to offer services in these three languages. My approach is evidence-based and my practice centers on healing and working to end systemic disparities in care. I seek to witness each person’s experience, to offer nonjudgmental support, a feminist, queer and anti-racist lens, and a grounded and adaptable presence. I am deeply grateful to the community with whom I continue to build and grow.

Care philosophy

I believe that everyone is the expert on their own body and life and deserves to be held with care through life's transitions. Welcoming a child, birthing, and becoming parents are sacred processes. I work with birthing people, their partners,+ surrogates as they embrace + remember their power to sustain through change. I support individuals + families postpartum as they grow + navigate new roles.

Dani is the absolute best. She was such an invaluable resource and advocate both during my pregnancy and the labor/delivery process and I can’t recommend her enough!
Dani is so knowledgeable and talked us through any questions/concerns and helped us to develop a framework for thinking through decisions we had to make. She helped me create a birth plan and provided ongoing support (including sending over helpful evidence-based resources), especially when it felt like my OB and I weren’t on the same page on what labor/delivery was going to look like.
She stayed with us throughout the induction process, and it made all the difference – she was such a calming presence and made sure I understood what the nurses and doctors were saying. She also helped to advocate for me and made sure I never felt pressured to make a decision without having some time to think about it first. She took amazing care of us, and even took some pictures (at our request) to document our first moments together after our kiddo was born.
Equally important, she made sure my husband felt involved throughout, and we talked about how partners can help and stay connected during the birthing process, which we both really appreciated.
Dani continues to check in regularly even after birth to make sure we’re doing OK and to see if we need any support – we can’t wait to see her in a few weeks for a post-partum visit!
We’re so grateful that Dani was a part of our journey and can’t imagine doing this without her.

As a former nanny and experienced personal chef, the need to care is innate, and it was natural that when it time to move on, I became a doula. I combine the best of Western knowledge, Chinese philosophy and Indigenous Caribbean and Afro-Indigenous Caribbean guidance to provide a unique blend of care that works at multiple levels. I am currently training to offer birth support, so my rates for birth are flexible.

Care philosophy

I firmly believe in gentle guidance that allows new and intended parents to rest and recover, filtering the noise and offering a singular well of information and care to limit being overwhelmed.

Glen was my postpartum doula who stayed with me some days and some night. She kept me hydrated, made very tasty food and encouraged skin to skin time with baby. She’d use this time to do laundry or wash dishes and I really was able to focus on bonding with my baby and not about other things. She showed me how to keep my baby sleeping safe and helped me address my postpartum anxiety in so many ways.

Hi my name is JoseIyn but my family and friends call me yose. I am a holistic Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Lactation Educator, and Birthrights advocate in Orange County, California. My passion for Birth work began in 2020 when I got pregnant with my daughter Kailani. During pregnancy I prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually for labor, but did not prepare for the postpartum period. With no family or support around it made my 4th trimester a very difficult time for me and my partner. This is what made me more passionate about supporting parents during the postpartum period. I completed her Birth Worker training with Bebo Mia Inc when her daughter was only 3 months old. After the training I realized that I wanted to take a more ancestral approach in birth work, and began learning about Mexican Indigenous Birth and Postpartum Traditions. I am constantly growing and learning! As your Doula I will walk with you through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Care philosophy

Our philosophy of birth is that it is designed to be a normal, natural process that your body was perfectly made to experience. I will support you and educate you on every stage of your journey.

Hi there! My name is Briauna Smith and I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula located in the Los Angeles area. Something unique about my practice is that I offer more than just the two standard prenatal visits. This is because I understand that a positive birth experience requires a comfortable atmosphere, so it's important that we get to know each other! It's my goal to help you prepare for the birth you envision and to set you up for success during your postpartum period. I offer additional services such as childbirth education, placenta encapsulation, and more. I birthed my little one a little over a year ago at home (doula and midwife in attendance), which is what ultimately led me to doula work. I believe every woman, every family should be informed about their options and have the opportunity to have the birth they envision. When I'm not visiting with clients or at a birth, I run a natural skin care business, do some nutritional consulting, and am expanding my herbalism practice. I love to cook and read, but I'm mostly adjusting to and enjoying motherhood in my free time.

Care philosophy

Inclusion: A family-oriented practice Comfort: A safe environment Holistic: A practice that honors healing the way our ancestors did Preparation: A practice that aims to inform Affordability: A practice that meets you where you are

I am a postpartum doula that worked alongside Bri as our client’s birth doula. She was amazing! So thorough and communicative so that the client was able to make a seamless transition. She really put her best foot forward even providing the client with a nutritious first meal after birth! Speaking directly with the client I also learned that Bri was very supportive in the hospital. She helped the client feel informed and prepared, assisted the client through the best way to advocate for their birth wishes, and made the experience overall one to remember! She also does postpartum work, helping mamas heal and adjust to this new lifestyle providing support that’s extraordinary. She really helps clients feel supported and heard, two very important aspects of birth work!

I found my way to the birth world after having a very long and challenging labor with my first child. Through the 3 day process, I could not imagine having done it without my doula. I want to make sure every birthing family feels empowered during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. I'm happy to support families from preconception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, as well as through miscarriage/loss/abortion. I love introducing women to the ancient practice of vaginal steaming so that they may prepare for labor, shorten labor, and help them heal postpartum all in a very relaxing way. I love to ensure that new families, in particular new mothers are well cared for as they adjust to life with a newborn. For postpartum clients I enjoy cooking nourishing meals and being a supportive, encouraging, and knowledgeable guide. As a mother of 2 myself, I know how valuable support throughout your transition to parenthood can be. Feel free to visit my website to learn more or message/email me to set up a time to see if I'm the right doula for you!

Care philosophy

I offer non-judgmental care to help you have a birth where you feel empowered and that look back on with fondness. I am also a Placenta Specialist, Certified Vaginal Steam Consultant, and Herbalist. I love being able to provide postpartum support to families as they transition into their new roles as parents.

Natasha is such a pleasant being. I have always felt a great vibe from her even before I became her client. I had a few doulas to choose from and I am so glad I went with Natasha. She provided me with many resources and useful info I needed, and quite frankly wouldn’t have found for myself. This info was extremely helpful, I was always referring back to her emails and messages. She helped me with so much including calming my spiraling feelings and thoughts, introducing me to practices which I felt really helped me enter labor naturally and on time, and most importantly, after our visits she left me feeling confident. Confident in myself, my current state of mind and my ability to carry out my birth plan.

During my hospital birth she was by my side the entire time, even when things were going against my plan. Natasha managed to keep me calm through the nerves, her presence and support felt good, I felt safe.

Both my husband and I were grateful she was part of our team. He felt comfortable with her and enjoyed her support during an intense day for both of us.

With a background in childcare and Montessori education, I came to doula work because I love connecting with families and babies. I trained as a birth doula in 2021 and as a postpartum doula in 2022, and I am currently supporting families through birth and postpartum as I pursue my certification through DONA International. I also hold a B.A. in Politics with a focus on reproductive justice, which drives my focus on inclusion and autonomy in my doula practice.

Care philosophy

I believe that every family is armed with the love and strength it takes to guide their child in the world. My role as a doula is simply to provide unbiased information and to facilitate a gentle, empowering environment so that your intuition can shine through. My caring style is calm and lighthearted, with an emphasis on evidence and inclusion.

I grew up in Austin, TX in a sweet old neighborhood bursting with young families. I was raised to be a very open minded, generous, and compassionate individual. I was also very curious and fascinated by pregnancy and birth from a very young age. I quickly became a favored child caregiver because of my strong work ethic and calm, nurturing spirit. As I continued child care through and after college, these varied and rich experiences with parents and children naturally led me to my interest in becoming a birth, postpartum and sibling doula. I have trained with both Doula Trainings International (DTI) and Doulas of North America (DONA). Training with two different organizations has given me a diversity of lenses when it comes awareness and education on how to best support the families I work with. I have also opened my scope and skills additionally, by becoming a reiki practitioner. Giving emotional and physical support to birthing people before, during, and after the life-changing experience of childbirth has become my passion. Through education about good prenatal health, labor, lactation, delivery and postpartum care, I hope to help birthing people feel confident and empowered. Apart from my doula work, I love cooking and eating delicious food and dancing! I absolutely love being in nature, and enjoy taking off on adventures whenever I have the opportunity.

Care philosophy

My philosophy of care as a doula is that the parent comes before the baby. I believe that if parents are being taken care of, then they will be better parents. Of course babies should be loved and nurtured and have all of their needs met, but the parents need these things as well. In a society so far removed from the village culture, I try to bring that back, through guidance and support.

Hi! I have been working in childcare for the last 7 years, with a specialty in newborn and infant care. I recently worked with a mother who had infant twins and it was a realization of how much support the mother and the entire family need at this time in their life. So I did the work and became a certified Postpartum Doula and now would love the opportunity to meet and work for other families.

Care philosophy

I believe that a postpartum doula is there to help the entire family with the birth of a new child. They are there to help the mother heal and make the household a place of peace and order and facilitate the needs of everyone in the family during this time of change.

Emily is THE BEST! I recommend Emily whenever she is available to all of my friends. She is the most loving, compassionate, and empathetic person. I am so grateful that she was able to help me care for our daughter from her early days. I remember one instance when my daughter was very sick. It was one of those really bad stomach bugs but it was the first we ever encountered. It was all hands on deck caring for her. Emily stepped in like she was a third parent; holding her, letting her sleep on her, comforting her when she was throwing up… There were many less dramatic instances of what a wonderful caregiver Emily is. But that one sticks out in my mind as an example of her instinctual empathy. Another thing worth mentioning is that Emily is really easy to be around. When someone is working in your home, you want a person who brings energy rather than takes it. Emily’s positive presence brightens every space she is in. I wish I was having another baby so I could hire her again!

Birth and postpartum have always been very revered in my culture and I always say I have been a doula for my whole life because of this. I love to bring this idea of birth and postpartum as something to be celebrated to all kinds of cultures and backgrounds. I incorporate my knowledge as an herbalist, student midwife, and home-birth mother in offering support to families. I offer birth doula services that include birth prep and prenatal visits as well as mother-focused postpartum services.

Care philosophy

On birth: Every woman/birthing person deserves support, advocacy, and attention during her/their birth. As a birth doula, I offer that intuitive support. On postpartum: One of the three golden opportunities in life for deep healing both physically and mentally, I use this time to help a new mother heal using (rest, warmth, nourishment, and support).

I can’t say enough amazing things about Lucero! She was so knowledgeable about remedies and things prior to the birth to help with pain and discomfort I was having, which was so helpful. She always responded quickly to my texts or calls. She set up a meeting on Zoom for me to even meet her backup doula’s that would be available to help me if for some reason she couldn’t make it down on time. That made me feel so much more comfortable knowing that someone would be there no matter what. She also met with my husband and I ahead of time to make sure we were on the same page about everything and that she knew our wishes for the labor. She was so helpful with recommending things my husband could do for me while I was laboring at home until we could get to the hospital, in case I needed relief. And then came the delivery, she was there for an entire day and night with us, went home for a few hours, and then came back again in the early morning hours to be there when I delivered. She massaged me during, in between contractions, when I was having extreme back labor, advised me on pumping and doing things to progress my labor, provided essential oils, put up calming things around the room and positive affirmations, and much more. She advocated for me and always questioned my midwife in the right way to make sure that I was getting all the proper information and that I knew the risks and benefits of the choices before making a decision. She kept me calm and worry free. She was the best!

My name is Michelle, I'm a mother of two boys, a healer and a birth and postpartum doula. My journey began when I became pregnant with my second son. I knew a home birth was the route I wanted to take, I became obsessed with learning everything I possibly could and I knew that becoming a doula is what I am I called to do. I decided to take the final step and enrolled in a doula training program, Bebo Mia support practitioner. I believe in the power and strength of a woman's body and I'm just here to remind you of that. My goal is to make sure you feel confident during all of your pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I provide evidence based care, along with unlimited emotional and physical support. I take a holistic approach, I provide childbirth classes, belly binding, tea blends, rebozo work, lactation education, baby wearing and placenta encapsulation. This is your journey, I'm here to make you and your family feel safe, loved and respected during our time together.

Care philosophy

I take a holistic approach along with evidence based care. I provide a environment with respect and without judgment. I believe in the power and strength of a women's body and anatomy. To be apart of your village during prenatal, labor and postpartum is a honor and privilege in which I take pride.

Jessamyn is a second generation birth professional and began her journey into birthwork after the birth of her own daughter in 2007. She has supported hundreds of families in their journeys of early pregnancy through the postpartum years in childbirth education, labor and birth support, and bodywork. She is passionate about guiding families in this life changing time through education and being a trail guide in their own birth, utilizing her intuition, years of experience, continued learning, and years of bodywork therapies. She guides clients towards self-empowerment and informed decision making, while also providing steadfast side-by-side, hand in hand support physically and emotionally.

Care philosophy

I'm often asked by expecting parents what my birth philosophy is. It is this: birth is a physiologic process. It is something that our bodies and babies innately know how to do. I'm here to support the process, connecting with my clients, exploring their fears, and hopes and intentions for their birth, and help tap into their own spiritual, physical and emotional knowing of labor and birth.

I started Postpartum Connection & Wellness in the Spring of 2021, after witnessing firsthand the significant lack of support for postpartum families in the wake of global stress. Building on my background as a licensed clinical social worker, my goal as a doula is to provide you and your family with all of the information and support helpful to make the best decisions for you and your newborn. As a postpartum doula, I provide physical, emotional, and practical support that ranges from feeding, hygiene, engagement, and sleep of your newborn, processing both daily and larger stressors of the postpartum period with all family members, as well as helping with meal planning and prep, cooking, light cleaning, bodyfeeding assistance, and integration of older children and extended family.

Care philosophy

Supporting a postpartum family should be both holistic and empowering. Health and wellness are not just physical in nature, so as a doula I work to "meet the family where they’re at," both physically and emotionally. As your doula, I will work to connect with each family member to meet your overarching needs, and to assist with your newborn in whatever ways you identify as most helpful.

I wholeheartedly recommend Ashley Fryer! She is a passionate and gifted newborn specialist with a unique ability to come up with creative options to support both mother and child. She arrives early and stays late when necessary, and consistently seeks feedback while offering constructive advice. Ashley has a well-developed communication style. She provided emotional support to the entire family through her natural ability to nurture and communicate.
Ashley is thoughtful, patient and compassionate; dedicated and non-judgmental; loving and trustworthy; among many other qualities. She is a natural and supported me through the birth and early development of my first child–all during a difficult time of isolation during the pandemic. Ashley consistently surprised me and surpassed my expectations with her knowledge, care and experience. She provided me with practical support and advice from breastfeeding, to organizing my daughter’s nursery to sleep training. Her assistance was so complete that it allowed me to return to work full-time while also successfully defending my doctoral dissertation.
I highly recommend Ashley Fryer without reservation.

My birth and postpartum practice is nearly a decade old! I started birth work shortly after the birth of my only child and have served over 100 families since. My practice philosophy is rooted in ancestral medicine and traditional birth and postpartum practices that encourage following the intuition of the birthing person and encouraging them to trust their own intuitive wisdom. New parents are like newborn babies, trying to make sense of their new reality while caring for a new human. I am here to help make the transition smooth and easy, through hands-on and home support.

Care philosophy

I am a Traditional Postpartum Care Specialist and my philosophy is rooted in Mesoamerican practices that focus on "mothering the mother". I come from the Mexica lineage who, in Indigenous tradition, follow the postpartum practice of the cuartentena which is intensive care and support for the new parents, especially the birthing parent during the first 40 days of your new baby's life.

I will meet with you, assess your needs based on a questionnaire, and then upon signing the contract and on the first day, will come to your home and help the birthing parent begin the process of parenthood. This could be anything from night nursing support, infant feeding/care, emotional/physical healing, referring you to other health professionals if needed, and helping with identifying feeding cues and just being there to do some housework! I can also be a person to guide visitors, and to be your advocate if and when you need rest.

Care philosophy

I provide care via the Slow Doula Method-- by actively listening to you and your family's needs during the first 40 days of postpartum. I understand that there is not a significant amount of support for LGBTQIA families, therefore, I am ready to be that person that lifts you up and gives you the confidence you need as a queer/trans parent. I also serve ANY family who needs support.

I am a birth worker and power embodiment alchemist that uses a variety of skills and modalities to holistically and radically empower my clients during one of the biggest adventures of their lives. I began my career empowering women as a sexual assault counselor in the non-profit sector, over a decade ago. I have since volunteered with and worked for numerous domestic and international non-profits—the majority of which have specifically served to protect women’s rights and/or inspire women-centric socio-economic development. In June of 2016, I—with my partner by my side—was able to confidently navigate a traumatic birth experience and postpartum period with my daughter, Elliotte. The experience opened my eyes to the important role that a supportive birth team plays in taking charge of one’s birth story. Now I am able to look back on that time with great pride. After training as a birth and postpartum doula with DONA International, I created Alayla Birth. The name “Alayla” is derived from the Ancient Greek goddess, Ἀλαλά (or Alalá), who was the female personification of the battle cry, or call to arms. It is also the middle-name that my partner and I gave our daughter after we not only survived, but thrived after late-onset preeclampsia, a pre-mature and unplanned cesarean birth, and a rocky first year as a result of policy-before-patient care. My experience is what inspires the Alayla Birth approach to birthwork, and the name honors the fighting spirit that I hope to nurture in all of you.

Care philosophy

To provide unwavering support in a safe and judgement-free space where you to transition and grow as a family. To facilitate self-advocacy, with an approach rooted in love and respect, so you can be the champion of your own birth story.

I have loved working with babies, kids, and their families for as long as I can remember. I was a preschool teacher and for the past 12 years, I was a nanny. I watched over 5 newborns (not all at once). I got into birth work because I believe in evidence based care for all families seeking it. I want to assist you and your new family physically, mentally, and emotionally. I'm here to hold the baby while you take some time to nap and or shower, support you in newborn care, set up a nursery, make healthy snacks, be a shoulder to cry on, an extra ear to listen, and your # 1 cheerleader! I'm definitely open to help in anyway I can, feel free to talk to me about what you're looking for! I also can provide Sibling Doula services as well!

Care philosophy

I believe that no matter what your family looks like, you deserve judgment free care during your postpartum period. There is too much parent shaming going around and I would like to change that! I believe that a parent needs to choose what is best for their family. Whether it's choosing between formula vs. body feeding, or cloth diapers vs. disposable diapers, etc I am here to back you up!

I feel like everyone has the goal in life to find their purpose, and some are blessed to find it early. I have been living in my purpose more than half my life and didn't even know it. I became an aunt at 8 years old and that was my first experience with childbirth and childcare. Throughout the years I became that friend or relative who would go to doctor's appointments, download a pregnancy app and celebrate monthly changes, come over to hold the baby so they could have a bath, be in the room during delivery, and babysit. My mom always called me "the baby whisperer" because kids loved me from the moment I interacted with them. I became a preschool teacher after obtaining my B.A. in Human Development and continued teaching for 4 years. I was introduced to the role of being a doula through a friend and now mentor on social media. I was intrigued and inspired by her passion. After extensive research I realized the one thing I had been passionate about my entire life could be my career. I immediately began trainings and found that I fell even more in love with this work. I call this "The Journey" because I have so many plans for the future and I hope in some way you all may be a part of them.

Care philosophy

I believe that the birthing person is just as important as the new life they are bringing into the world. I focus on making sure that the birthing person is seen and heard throughout their journey. When a partner is present I do my best to make sure they feel involved in the journey and the delivery. I carry this into postpartum work as well.

Destiney approached me in 2020 with so much passion and grief associated with the birthing industry. She asked me for guidance and told me how committed she was to birth work. She kept her word. Destiney has shadowed me as a birth and traditional postpartum doula, in multiple births with lots of families in Southern California and attended many trainings from my resource lists. She’s put so much money and energy into a field that in the beginning can not give back a lot of financial support. I do not rely on other doulas for backup or coverage other than one colleague and Destiney recently was added to that list. She is excellent with communication, reliable, honest, passionate and so loving.

Hi I’m Summer! I’m a Birth Doula passionate about giving parents the tools they need to advocate for themselves and their birthing choices! I first decided to become a Doula after hearing countless stories of doctors pressuring unnecessary interventions, making what should be the most special day of your life, into a traumatic experience. I was struck by how susceptible new parents can be to misinformation, and my goal as a doula is to eliminate that uncertainty and foster a loving and safe birthing environment for parent and child. Of course the most important thing is that parent and baby are healthy, but that’s not the only important thing. I believe that as a parent your instinct is just as strong as that fetal ejection reflex and my job is to help you listen to it. I absolutely love being a doula and am so excited to support more families through this amazing journey. I would love to connect so please feel free to reach out anytime!

Care philosophy

I like to let the parents take the lead and tell me what type of support they are looking for, I’m very adaptable to any type of support! I like to be super hands on through contractions with comfort measures and massage. I’m also a huge believer in the Bradley method, which is partner based support. So your partner and I would work as a team to support you!

The birth of my first daughter was transformative as were the nine months leading up to it. With the love and support of my partner and midwife, I felt connected to my body, empowered in my decisions, stronger than I ever knew was possible, and completely overwhelmed with love… love for my new baby, love for my body, love for my support system. I knew almost instantly that I wanted to become a doula. I wanted to provide a nurturing and empowering experience for other families, and to support them through, what can be, the most transformative time in their life. I stepped away from my old career, as a middle school educator, to pursue this passion. As a former teacher I am able to provide thought-provoking, thorough, and organized resources to help you navigate the birth world and make informed decisions based on your intuition and desires. As a mother of three, I have first-hand experiences with pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. This knowledge and experience seeps into how I work with my clients. However, I honor that your experience is your own and I am here to provide nurturing, relationship-centered support. I love helping womxn connect to their body, mind, and heart during pregnancy in order to have the birth they desire and in order to stay connected to self during motherhood. Being a doula is an absolute honor. I look forward to connecting with you to see if we are a good fit for one another. Feel free to reach out via my contact page with any questions or to set up a time to chat.

Care philosophy

I believe birth is a normal, natural, transformative event and one that requires tender care and empowering support. It is an honor to do this work. As a former educator, I provide knowledge and resources during the prenatal stage. With a background in yoga, I help my laboring clients get into a relaxed state using breath and movement... to move out of their head and into a place of surrender.

Rachel has a calm, loving presence that allowed me as a birthing person to feel confident in my body’s process. She assured me in moments where I wasn’t sure I had the strength. She showed up for me with simple words and comforting touch. She truly has a gift for birth and postpartum work. Both my birth and recovery were more positive due to her expert support.

My interest in this work began as a young adult when my older sister was pregnant and I was invited to be a member of her birth team. I remember being overwhelmingly awed by the birth process and the human body. My interest continued as I started on the path to become a labor and delivery nurse. I found, rather quickly, the path of becoming a L&D was too clinical for me and did not feed my soul how I wanted. While in search for what was next, I became pregnant myself. I was confident I had wanted a home birth with a midwife and a doula, but ended up having a planned hospital birth due to a misdiagnosed medical condition. My birth was not at all what I wanted it to be. I was not given options, I was not given information, I was not given time to think and it left me somewhat scarred. After my daughter was born, my husband was only able to take a week off of work. I also had my stepdaughter to take care of and I felt like I didn't have time to heal, establish a good breastfeeding routine, or bond with my darling girl. I remember feeling completely unsupported. It was then that I decided I wanted to help mamas to have empowered births that they wouldn't need to emotionally recover from. My experience shaped my doula practice. My experience makes informed consent my top priority with my clients as well as bonding time within the family and breastfeeding support. I love what I do and I love helping each family I work with to have a more fulfilling experience.

Care philosophy

My goal with all of my clients is to ensure they feel informed, empowered and encouraged to advocate for themselves.

I never had a doula with my first child but I’m so grateful to have met Sabrina with my second child. I wanted a different experience this time around and she went above and beyond for me. Not only is she full of knowledge but she is also patient, kind, supportive, non judgmental. She has the energy and passion to make you excited about what can be a scary process especially after having experienced a traumatic first birth. She is nothing short of amazing and I’m so lucky to have had her with me during labor and birth. Thank you Sabrina!

Welcome to TzimTzum Doula. My name is Anna Calamaro and I am a DONA International trained birth and postpartum doula. I believe pregnant encompasses the body and the soul. Pregnant should not just be a physical condition to be endured; rather, it should be a meaningful phase in your life. When I am not working as a pastoral care professional at Cedars-Sinai or taking classes in rabbinical school, you can find me binging birth videos on YouTube! I marvel at the miracle of birth. After reading Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, the strength and wisdom of women giving birth and assisting the birthing process awakened something within me. I realized birth work was meant to be at the core of my career. Being a doula encompasses so many facets of my personality: the caring, nurturing and supportive side, the educator and lifelong learning side, and the spiritual, ritual, and community building side. While embarking all these parts, I recognize that there are times when the most important role I can play as a doula is to be still, quiet, patient, and calm in order to support the birther and help them embrace their own personal experience.

Care philosophy

Each birth is as individual as the person birthing, and each family has unique desires and hopes for the birth of their child. As your doula, I will support YOU and your partner in your desires for YOUR birth. I support you in YOUR birth choices, whatever they may be. I empower you through informed choice so you may empower yourself. “If you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.” (-Korte)

I decided to become a doula after I was present for my youngest sister’s birth. I was inspired and felt called to work in this area. I plan to further my education and become a midwife. My mission as a doula is to remove trauma from the birthing experience and replace that with empowerment and peace.

Care philosophy

I truly believe that birth is a beautiful, natural thing. Women’s bodies were made to give life and I am here to support that journey. I am here to empower women and remind them of what they are capable of. I am here to advocate for them and their plans for their birthing experience. I encourage women to focus on their mindset and remind them to take power over their experience.

Hi! I’m Marlee Malone-Franklin (she/her). I’ve been supporting growing families as a doula and educator since 2014, and I LOVE what I do! I’m passionate about helping families figure out what will work for them. I’m a born problem-solver, so coming up with creative strategies alongside my clients is one of my favorite parts of this work! No two sessions are alike since every family has different needs and priorities. Seeing families thrive is one of my greatest joys. It’s so amazing to see new parents transition from feeling lost and struggling to beaming with confidence as they learn and build new skills. Education is a big focus in my practice - I love helping parents learn more about their tiny humans! I’m also passionate about validating and normalizing the more challenging aspects of life with a newborn. There are so few spaces where parents are able to share those feelings and experiences safely, so it’s really important to me to provide a container for sharing those thoughts with someone who “gets it.”

Care philosophy

I strive to provide safe, appropriate, and inclusive trauma-informed care to all my clients. As I support parents, I actively work to dismantle systems of racism, patriarchy, cis- and heteronormativity, and other forms of oppression in my own perspective, words, and behavior. I am dedicated to research and personal inquiry especially around anti-racism.

I am the eldest of three children and was blessed to witness the birth of both my siblings. I began working with expectant parents when I was 11 years old and continued to help new families with their babies for over a decade until I finally crossed over into official doula work. I completed two doula trainings at Kindred Space and Doula Trainings International. Raised in Oakland, CA in a tribe of birth workers, activists, herbalists and holistic healers, I believe in building loving community and support around the birth process from pre-conception through postpartum. This includes, cycle health, fertility awareness, abortion, miscarriage, pregnancy, lactation and infant care. I am committed to helping create the ideal birthing experience for you and your family and offer highly personalized birthing support. My goal is to give you and your family the attention and knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your reproductive health, pregnancy and labor process.

Care philosophy

I believe that the mother is the heartbeat of a family and when she is thoroughly supported everyone connected to her thrives. I aim to incorporate the entire family in support of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. The healing that comes after a baby arrives is of particular importance to me. A new mother should be nurtured, nourished and pampered while bonding with her baby and partner.

My life’s joy is to empower birthing people so that they may bring their children into the world with gentleness and compassion. I believe that birthing people possess their own innate wisdom about their bodies and their babies. As a birthkeeper I offer non-judgmental support throughout the perinatal period. I am a trained Carriage House Birth and DONA International Birth and Postpartum Doula, a DTI certified Childbirth Education Instructor, and a beng-kung belly binding specialist.

Care philosophy

I witnessed my sister's birth at home in Bali, Indonesia. At 3-years old, the powerful energy was transformative. My innate gifts combined with my formal education and passion for birth guided me to birth work. I wear many hats in this role: educator, assistant, and friend. It's my deep belief that in respecting birth and parenthood we honor birthing people, their babies, and life itself.

For most parents, the transition into early parenthood is hard. Postpartum doulas in Santa Ana, CA offer all sorts of practical, physical, informational and emotional support to new parents. Postpartum doulas in Santa Ana, CA offer a wide range of after-birth support services, including:

Some parents require additional physical and emotional support due to their specific situation, lack of family support, or their particular lifestyle. A postpartum doula positively affects the entire family, as many postpartum doulas are involved in sibling care, housework chores, and educating clients on childcare information/techniques.

To find a postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA, most parents recommend creating a job post on Meela and having uniquely qualified postpartum doulas near you (in your budget) reach out to you through the Meela app.

It is completely free to create a job post on Meela and find a postpartum doula. There are no commitments to hire any of the qualified and expert vetted postpartum doulas Meela brings you.

Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

To find a postpartum doula, you can also browse the available postpartum doulas near you in Santa Ana, CA and read reviews, compare pricing, experience and fit. Send the postpartum doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend reaching out to and interviewing at least three postpartum doulas before hiring a postpartum doula near you. After interviewing, hire the most qualified postpartum doula near you and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a postpartum doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, you can expect the average cost of a postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA to be $39 per hour, which is the average cost of a postpartum doula in the state of California. The cost of a postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA can range from $31 to $46 per hour. These costs are based on a representative group of 1,036 postpartum doulas surveyed by Meela across the state of California. The average cost of a postpartum doula in California is higher than the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $37 per hour.

When hiring a postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA, you and your postpartum doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

A postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Santa Ana, CA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Santa Ana, CA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Santa Ana, CA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Santa Ana, CA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Santa Ana, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
