The Indi Women’s Club aims to improve health equity and birth outcomes for BIPOC women and birthing people regardless of gender identity, assignment, or expression. Providing meaningful birth planning backed by trauma informed care and cultural competency allows for clients to feel prepared, supported, and knowledgeable about their healthcare decisions during their birth journey.

A positive birth experience happens in a safe and sustainable environment. Birth is a powerful and natural process that is to be witness and supported and anyone involved should aim to keep the birthing person’s bodily autonomy in tact.

My goal as a doula is to empower parents to have the birth and postpartum experience they desire, as well as guide and educate them through the process in order to demystify pregnancy, labor, delivery, & postpartum.

Care philosophy

I believe birth is one of the most natural processes the human body can experience. Our bodies were designed to create, carry, and then bring new life into the world. The human body inherently knows & understands how to go through the process of birth – both as the one giving birth, and the one being birthed. This beautiful and natural design of the labor and delivery process should be celebrated.

My partner and I did an abundance of research into birth and parenthood. Being first time parents we wanted to be as prepared as possible. Unfortunately our child had other ideas (don’t they all), Amanda helped to educate and equip us to handle all of the adorable little curveballs our first child could throw at us. Between her knowledge of breastfeeding and the ability to help make sure we got a nap in, having her assistance and knowledge as part of the process of becoming parents was incalculable in the value it added. I can’t recommend her highly enough to any parent.

Informed consent is central to the care.  It is your body, your birth, your baby.  I do not have an agenda besides making sure the pregnancy birth is unfolding normally/safely and supporting your desire. Parents should be at the center of their birth team, informed, empowered, supported and centered in decision making in any and every birth location.  At every birth and in every setting all the people in the birth room are working for the family, and parents and providers should always know this.  It is a privilege to be in somebody's birthing space and this must never be taken for granted. A montrice is a wonderful option for women who would like to labor at home as long as possible, but deliver in a hospital setting.  Licensed Midwives are able to monitor the advancement of labor, yours and your babys well being in your home until it is time to go to your out of home birthplace. We help to make that transition at the right time, and continue to support you as a doula when you are with your planned care providers.

Care philosophy

At Rising Tide Midwifery it is my mission to support every woman in the most empowering way possible. I offer services ranging from midwifery and waterbirth/homebirth, to doula/montrice, to postpartum services. I am certified in doula support, childbirth education, placenta encapsulation, breastfeeding counseling, neonatal resuscitation, BLS/CPR, and of course,  I am licensed Midwife.

My name is Dawneshia, I am a mother to five children, wife and I’ve always had a passion to empower and educate others around me. I’ve worked in education for 12 years within my community and that include in after school setting as well as the school day setting. I’ve always strived to be the difference in the lives of youth that I worked with and most recently in the lives of women, mothers and their families during such a beautiful moment in their life. I began my training as a doula in 2020 6 months after I gave birth to my then youngest child. During that pregnancy I found my voice, exercised my right to choose who I received care from and where. I had my first VBAC water birth and it was so empowering for me. I felt led to go forth and apply for all scholarships available so that I could begin my training as soon as possible. I received 2 scholarships that year and my 3rd scholarship I received was in the spring of 2021 as I continued my education to obtain more knowledge because in the birth world you always want to stay up to date on your education. I recently gave birth to my 5th child and my 2nd VBAC this year. During my 5th pregnancy I supported women during the pregnancy, labor and birth and it was an amazing feeling to see them feel so confident and empowered during their pregnancy as well as their labor and birth. I am a Certified VBAC Doula, trained to serve as a birth and postpartum doula, and offer bereavement doula services for those experiencing pregnancy or infant loss. A successful VBA2C using Hypnobabies in 2011 ignited my enduring passion for supporting and achieving optimal birthing experiences and sharing information about pregnancy and birth to advocate for better perinatal and newborn health outcomes. I’m the owner of Atala Doula Services, serving the Sacramento region and surrounding counties of northern California. Having spent most of my adult working life as a technical writer, which involves gathering information from subject matter experts and creating written resources that even non-technical people can easily understand and follow, I realized the work was not as rewarding or fulfilling as I wish it would be. So, I embarked on some introspection to evaluate my personality, my strengths, what I enjoyed about my prior work, and what I most want to do in the future…be a source of support and empowerment for others.

Care philosophy

As a birth doula, I offer compassionate, empathetic, empowering support for your birthing experience. As a postpartum doula, I aim to provide personal, reassuring, relieving support during your transition to life with a newborn. Values: Attuned-Transcendent-Adaptable-Loving-Attainable

I got started because I realized how little help the average family has when it comes to life with a newborn. I want to be a support system to those who need it and help them succeed at parenting. I am a full spectrum doula (which includes birth support, postpartum support, and reproductive health support). I am also a certified pediatric sleep consultant and can help with setting up healthy sleep habits from the newborn stage up through the first year. I am an advocate for you, for your voice to be heard, and for you to have the most research and evidence-based information possible when it comes to making decisions for you and your family.

Care philosophy

I am passionate about helping people into parenthood, whether that be for the first time or not. Bringing a new addition into the family can be an exciting time. It can also be a stressful and overwhelming time too. I know how hard it can be not to have your "village" and that's why I became a doula. I want to give you all the tools you need to feel like you are rocking this new journey.

As your doula, I will provide you with emotional, physical, and compassionate support on this, your greatest journey. I use my training as a DONA birth doula and my knowledge of essential oils & acupressure for childbirth to support you during your birthing time. I support all kinds of families including single parents, LGBTQ+, adoption & more! I look forward to supporting and encouraging you on your magnificent journey through pregnancy & birth! Congratulations!

Care philosophy

I am a firm believer that women and their bodies know how to birth babies. Our bodies were made for this purpose and we need to step back and trust in the process. I also believe that the way we are born matters. Our time in utero is sacred and the way we are born is just as significant. It is our introduction into this world and it can leave a powerful impression on us for the rest of our lives.

For as long as I can remember, I have naturally found myself in helping roles. At the root of my desire to help is empowerment, continuity and a person-centered approach -- the same goes for my role as your doula. As your doula, I'm not here to choose your direction. Instead, I am here to be a reassuring presence and to help you navigate your course. I want you to know that you and your family are cared for, confident in your choices and well informed. I attended Colorado Christian University and received my business degree then moved forward in my doula education through Sierra Birth Institute classes and working alongside local midwivesand. Being a doula has allowed me to enjoy my journey into motherhood as well as also have a profession that I believe in deeply. I am Neonatal Resecutation and CPR Certified along with beinh a certified Midwife Assistant. I live in Roseville, California with my husband and our son, born in 2019.

Hello! I am Melody Brown. I started Labour of Love in order to create and support a holistically positive-support process for those moving toward future birthing, child rearing, and all of the emotional/psychological support frameworks one might need regardless of your birthing outcome. Through my own process of pregnancy, I encountered many painful and powerfully uplifting moments. Through my birthing and postpartum experience… and then the loss of multiple pregnancies, I have been brought full circle with great desire and passion to get involved with birth work.

Care philosophy

To support birthing people and their families in pregnancy, birth and postpartum by empowering them to make informed, confident choices for themselves and their babies; all while helping them achieve the best possible outcome for their birth.

We recommend reaching out to and interviewing at least three postpartum doulas before hiring a postpartum doula near you. While the cost of a postpartum doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, the average cost of a postpartum doula in Sacramento, CA is $36 per hour, but typically ranges from $27 to $46 per hour. These costs are based on a representative group of 23 postpartum doulas surveyed by Meela in the Sacramento area. When hiring a postpartum doula in Sacramento, CA, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your postpartum doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

A postpartum doula in Sacramento, CA is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Sacramento, CA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Sacramento, CA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Sacramento, CA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Sacramento, CA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Sacramento, CA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Sacramento, CA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
