The midwifery model of care became the main pillar that anchors the support we provide. When I became a doula more than 7 years ago, I was a labor & delivery/ NICU trained nurse with about 4000 births under my belt. Being out of the hospital and training as a midwife grounded my knowledge base to appreciate physiologic birth and cultivating the necessary training to help out of hospital birth clients find doulas and childbirth education that served their unique needs. This evolved into a comprehensive, birth and postpartum system of support for all. My colleagues and I have served hundreds of families.

Thank you so much for considering Snugs and Kisses to support you and your newborn during this wonderful time! As a wife to an amazingly supportive husband and a mother to one awesome little guy, I am honored to be able to provide moms with a service that is very important but often neglected. My background as an infant teacher Assistant, nanny (including night nanny) and Newborn/Maternal Certified Nursing Assistant led me to my becoming a postpartum doula and certified lacation counselor. Being able to serve families in these capacities for ten years gave me the passion to open Snugs and Kisses. I want all mothers to be have the support from someone who not only understands what they are going through but knows how to help! It is so fulfilling partnering with new parents and helping them transition into parenthood. We believe there is no 'right' way to raise a child. You can count on us to be your non-judgmental support. We are here to reassure and encourage you to trust your parental instincts. Our teachings are evidence-based and allows you to develop your own parenting style and make the best decisions for your family. My hope is that our support will provide peace of mind that will allow you to rest and enjoy parenthood.

I can’t say thank you enough. I decided to make Snugs and Kisses a part of my post partum journey before I truly knew how much I needed them. Kimberly provided an extra bit of peace in the early stages of my first experience with motherhood. She was attentive to my concerns and quick to find answers to questions I had regarding breast feeding.

If it weren’t for Sungs and Kisses I might not have continued with breastfeeding. I can say I gained confidence in the process as well as how to advocate for myself regarding my baby’s ability to latch properly.

I appreciate that Kimberly kept an open line of communication during my overnight support. From the moment of our first consultation to her last day with us, Kimberly was intentional about including my husband in the process. She remained professional while feeling like a family friend ready to assist and educate. I would encourage anyone looking for a postpartum doula to reach out to Kimberly.

The goal is to support new and expecting moms during the prenatal and postpartum journey. Many moms miss out on amazing opportunities to bond and connect with their baby because they aren't educated and informed about important breastfeeding feeding and infant care practices, or they are so consumed with other elements of motherhood they aren't able to fully embrace the bonding experience.   I not only partner with mom but I also work with the entire family to ensure baby is getting the most nutritional value from human milk. After working together to create a plan specifically for your family, you'll feel more confident and empowered to breastfeed for as long as you'd like. If you decide nursing is not right for you, that's okay too. We can explore alternatives to keep both you and baby happy and healthy.

Care philosophy

Having access to accurate and current information is super important, and it can make all the difference in the world when it comes to raising a happy and healthy baby. The more you know about breastfeeding, childbirth, and the postpartum journey the more confident you and your family will feel about decision making.   The pregnancy and postpartum stage should be about bonding and healing.

Sharel Bratcher

5 reviews • 75 families supported • 6 years experience

Hi! My name is Sharel (pronounced like Cheryl). I’m 32 with three littles homeschooled by my husband 6,5,3 and I can often be found drinking coffee. I officially started my doula journey during the pandemic of 2020 when I decided to get certified through Still Birth Day, but my passion for birth, child development, and photography came way before, with my love for serving others even before that. I’ve been working in birth work for over 6 years now and currently a student midwife. Before getting married I worked as a personal aid and care giver for a little girl who had cerebral palsy (she was one of quadruplets, I volunteered leading and serving and teaching in the church, I worked with college students and teen moms as well as single moms going to college. I have a degree in Child Development and Art, because I’m a creative at heart as you will see. I received my BA from Texas Woman’s University in Denton Texas in 2013 and I got married in 2014 after working in full time ministry in London and back at TWU with the BSM . Marriage rocked my world but nothing would change my life like having a kid. While pregnant with my first, I studied at the Village Church Institute (under southern seminary) and I became a lay counselor through our churches biblical counseling program. Along side serving in our church I continued to have babies and even lose some. I served as our Children’s child care coordinator all the while slowly growing back up my photography business. After photographing my first birth I learned more about midwifery and doulas and thinking I knew it all until the birth of my first humbled me. If it wasn’t for the birth assistant who was also a doula stepping in, my birth experience would have been much worse, but I’ll spare you the details. Since then, my passion to support moms in labor grew! Then as I struggled with breastfeeding and postpartum depression and anxiety, I just knew I wasn’t alone. I learned, I grew, I rocked two beautiful fast water births with my husband and doula by my side and successfully breastfeed all my babies through lip and tongues ties past a year old. All that to say if I can do it, so can you and I would find so much joy in serving you to meet your family and mommy goals all while capturing it in photos for you to keep forever to remember how powerful you are and how far you have come. It’s an honor to serve and would love to serve you. I serve each family as individuals. I take time to get to know you and your needs and preferences, and together we work together to have the best birth experience you can have no matter the circumstances.

Care philosophy

I believe that all parents and babies no matter their story are made in the image of God. So I live to serve just as each person is the image bearer of the most high. No matter race, religious belief, hospital or at home, medicated or unmedicated etc. I strive to help the parent(s) be confident in their conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and even through bereavement and breastfeeding.

Sharel is empathetic, understanding, and aware of her client’s needs. She’s hands on and not afraid to speak up on behalf of others. I wouldn’t have wanted to journey into motherhood without her! She’s been a listening ear, a supportive birth team member, and an amazing photographer for our family over the last 5+ years.

As a former hospice worker, I became interested in supporting families in the "other" side of the circle of life. After training with DONA, I started working with families in Brooklyn in 2013. I practiced all over NYC through 2017 before relocating. While my most recent birth was in 2017 and I am learning about Dallas facilities, I both worked at UT Southwestern for a year and went through my own birth experience at Baylor in 2019. Because of these experiences, I am full of referrals to high-quality providers with whom I worked directly. Today, I focus on mindful birthing and postpartum coaching. I'm an especially good match for someone with a trauma history or anxiety. Through an initial consultation, I can introduce you to my approach. In subsequent visits, we'll go through a full program of preparing you for matrescence or, if you just need help postpartum, we'll tailor my services to the areas of greatest need. I can help you inventory and plan or we can adapt once you begin the journey and understand more of what you need. You can think of me as a coach - we'll discover together what is most important to you and design an appropriate approach for you and your family.

Care philosophy

I believe that a balance of good information and mindfulness prepares parents for birth and postpartum. Combining my background as a medical research librarian, yoga/meditation teacher, and birth and death doula, I bring a centered approach to joining you inside the birth cocoon. The ultimate goal is to enhance your experience of feeling Safe, Seen, Soothed and Secure in the midst of change.

Night Nanny Services: FAQs

A night nanny is a trained professional that specializes in newborn care. They are known as “night nannies” because they arrive at night and offer their nannying services until the morning.

Night nannies are also known as newborn care specialists, which is often abbreviated as “NCS.” A night nanny usually works with new parents for 8-12 weeks after the baby is born. Night nannies are often also called “night nurses.”

It can be incredibly exhausting to sleep train new babies, and a night nanny is expected to sleep train babies. Night nannies can also educate and inform new parents on the best way to feed, bathe, sleep train, and swaddle their children. They are generally available for 8-12 hours during the night and provide nanny services during this time.

Many professional parents often hire overnight nannies in Plano, TX because they may work long hours. It might be extremely difficult for these parents to get enough sleep to remain productive, and a night nanny can help them begin sleeping properly. Meela can help you connect with a night nanny in Plano, TX today.

To find a night nanny in Plano, TX, most parents recommend creating a job post on Meela and having uniquely qualified night nannies near you (in your budget) reach out to you through the Meela app.

You can interview and chat with as many night nannies as you wish and hire a night nanny in Plano, TX with confidence. It is completely free to create a job post on Meela and find a night nanny. There are no commitments to hire any of the qualified and expert vetted night nannies Meela brings you.

Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: Answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated night nannies near you. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  2. Get your list of night nannies: In a few hours, you will have a collection of night nannies near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience, and read reviews. You can chat with each night nanny to learn more about them.
  3. Hire a night nanny with confidence: Schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top night nanny choices. Hire your top night nanny and start getting your family the care it deserves.

To find a night nanny, you can also browse the available night nannies near you in Plano, TX and read reviews, compare pricing, experience and fit. Send the night nannies you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend reaching out to and interviewing at least three overnight nannies before hiring a night nanny near you. After interviewing, hire the most qualified overnight nanny near you and start getting the care you deserve.

The cost of a night nanny can vary based on a variety of factors, including their experience, their services, and their skills or specializations. Overall, the average cost of a night nanny in Plano, TX is $25-40 per hour.

It should be noted that the price of a night nanny in Plano, TX will likely increase if the night nanny is contracted to deal with twins or multiple children. Also, a night nanny’s cost may depend on their level of education, the needs of the newborn, or their exact responsibilities for specific clients.

There are some situations in which your insurance company will help you cover the costs of childcare, and this can obviously help those parents that want their baby’s needs met but might not be as financially secure. Unfortunately, a night nanny usually isn’t covered by insurance.

However, there are some cases where a night nanny is covered by insurance. For example, if your child health issues, parents may want to check to see whether their night nanny costs can be covered by their insurance company since their role is more directly related to your child’s health.

There are many situations in which parents might consider a night nanny in Plano, TX. First, both parents might be working long hours, which means that neither of them have the time to actually bathe/feed/swaddle the child when necessary. Some parents might already rely on friends and family, but realize that they require more help when it comes to their children.

A night nanny is also often most necessary in situations where there are twins or triplets. These parents simply may need extra help to care for these children night after night, and night nannies can help take over some of the workload. For first-time parents, for example, having to care for multiple children for the first time can be overwhelming and stressful. Other parents might also be dealing with mental health issues or postpartum depression.

A night nanny is expected to care for the baby as the parent would if they were awake. Night nannies wash baby bottles, prepare feeds, sterilize pump equipment, and more. Overnight nannies also bathe, feed, diaper, and swaddle the baby, as well. A night nanny can also provide care in situations where the mother might be recovering from a C-section, for example.

In many cases, the process is simple: a parent often hands off their baby to their night nanny so that they can get some much-needed sleep. The night nanny remains at the household until the parent(s) wake up, and then night nannies leave once the parents can take over child care duties.

Every family’s needs are different, but night nannies are expected to burp the baby, bathe the baby, prepare formula, and provide other nanny duties. In summary, overnight nannies in Plano, TX are expected to keep the baby fed, comfortable, clean, rested, and dry.

However, night nannies are not expected to complete household chores that are unrelated to baby care. It’s also important to note that a night nanny in Plano, TX will obviously need to get their rest, as well – so bedding must be provided. A night nanny typically sleeps once the baby is already resting and their nanny chores are complete.

A night nanny can often help parents with emotional support or provide extra help for a sick child. An overnight nanny in Plano, TX can help reduce stress and anxiety for many new parents who might have issues with their work-life balance.

One of the most obvious differentiators in the world of night nannies in Plano, TX is the fact that a night nanny might have specific experience with children of a specific age. Some night nannies might have certifications such as nursing certifications or sleep certifications. Many night nannies are often involved for the first six weeks of childbirth, and some of them remain with parents for months.

For example, some night nannies might have specialized skills for children aged 1-2, while others may be more experienced with children aged 3-4. Obviously, the responsibilities of these night nannies in Plano, TX differ depending on the age of the children that they are supervising.

Some night nannies might be CPR-certified or first-aid certified, which can give more peace of mind to parents who might be concerned about potential sleep or breathing issues. Other overnight nannies might specialize in newborns that have colic or reflux issues, as well.

There are some overnight nannies in Plano, TX that might be open to caring for your child while you are traveling out of town, while other nannies might not be available for that amount of time. There is no certification required to become a night nanny in Plano, TX. However, some night nannies choose to become newborn care specialists, and undergo NCS training.

There are some families that try to compare the concept of a “night nanny” to an “overnight babysitter.” The main difference here involves the level of commitment that a night nanny has to a newborn, versus a babysitter that may only have to provide minimal care to a newborn or child.

A babysitter is often not responsible for actually creating/fixing meals for newborns, washing their baby bottles, or doing their laundry. While a babysitter might monitor a newborn or make sure that they are safe – a nanny might spend time soothing a newborn, swaddling them, or taking care of their meals and clothes. A nanny has more obligations than a babysitter, and are considered more of an “extension” of the parents.
