My journey to birth work sparked after my first son. Even though my earliest memories are of making formula bottles for my siblings or assisting in diaper changes at the age of five. The real fire wasn't ignited until I had gone through my own pregnancies and births. When I became pregnant, I found myself in an unknown world navigating the typical path of maternity care. Dismissed by my healthcare providers and a hospital stay where I felt belittled, my voice silenced and almost every staff member that attended me were condescending and made me feel inadequate as a first-time mother. Throughout the years, I quickly realized I wasn't the only one who felt like there was a gap in compassionate reproductive care and there must be a better way to birth. Since then, I built Maternal Affinity Birth Services and my life has been all about pregnancy, birth, postpartum support, advocacy and unity ever since. Your pregnancy, your birth and the postpartum period (however long that may be for you) are the foundation of a lifelong journey. It is vital to care and nourish the new person, transitioning into postpartum who has also just been birthed. Whether this is education on a plethora of topics under the birth spectrum or continuous support and encouragement, a hand to hold to know you are not alone; or an open mind and ears to validate your emotions throughout the sea of parenthood. You do not have to cross these waters by yourself. No one should be without support. I am here to uplift you during your birth and postpartum journey. You are not alone. I will meet you in the middle, wherever that may be. I will hold space for unconditional love and healing. I am a resource of unbiased, evidence-based information. As a certified birth & bereavement doula, full-spectrum doula, evidence based birth instructor, infant microbiome instructor and lactation educator, I bring my knowledge, trainings, experience and open heart to the fullest extent with my families. You have a voice, let me help uplift it. The vibrations will break barriers. And no matter what, your birth story is yours to write.

Care philosophy

I provide postpartum support for the that ensures everyone is empowered, healing, bonding and well-rested all with the ease that your needs, wants and goals are in qualified hands. My support mirrors your unique family goals and needs while providing culturally aware and trauma informed support that extends to the entire family.

Adisela was the best thing to happen to our family! I had a rough birth and she came in the night after we were discharged from the hospital. We are first time parents and had no idea what to expect. Adisela educated us on newborn development and even helped our baby sleep through the night. She guided my partner and I while I went through postpartum anxiety and was there for every question and always validated how I was feeling. Her sitz bath blend she gifted me was amazing and she knows a lot about healing after birth. I wish I could give her 10 stars!! Recommending her postpartum doula support to every mama I know

I am a wife and the mother of 6 beautiful children. My family is the most important part of my life. Nurturing relationships with those most significant people in my life is my top priority. This is why I only take on 2-3 clients a month. I want to be able to devote the necessary energy you deserve as a client. Once you sign with me, I am available by phone or text any time. I want to develop a strong relationship of trust with you so that I can best support you and your growing family. Nurturing the body and soul with good nutrition, yoga and exercise, massage and teaching relaxation techniques that will help you throughout pregnancy and labor are of utmost importance to me. I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth and empowering women in their journey. My grandfather was an OBGYN and my mother was an herbalist so I grew up with the perfect blend of medical and holistic care. Birthwork has been my natural calling. I am a DONA trained doula as well as a Childbirth Educator. My husband Joseph and I provide classes for couples at The Educated Mama as well as private in-home classes. I offer both labor/birth support as well as postpartum services including placenta encapsulation and tinctures. I have also taken a Birth Assistant training course and currently work as a midwife assistant for local birth centers and home birth midwives.

Care philosophy

My goal is to provide all-encompassing support to the family as a whole. Whether it is birth or postpartum support services you need, I am there to assist both parents physically, emotionally and mentally. I will provide the education you need to make evidence based decisions as you prepare for your new baby and the changes ahead.

My goal is to provide nurturing care so you can heal and recover from the birth experience and bond with your baby. Support can look very different to families as needs change. I provide both emotional and physical support. Emotional support can be a listening ear so you feel honored, protected and replenished, providing positive reinforcement & reassurance, providing evidence-based informational support, gentle education and referrals when needed. Physical support can be light meal prep or full meal support, breast or bottle feeding support, newborn care, baby bonding, baby wearing & sleep support, light housekeeping, baby laundry, and sibling care.

Care philosophy

My goal is to take care of the mother so that they can take care of the baby. The 4th trimester is full of joy and excitement but can also feel overwhelming and be a challenging transition time. I would love to help you adjust to your new role by providing physical and emotional support.

In the spiritual world, the river represents sweetness, fertility, love, abundance, and all the joys that life has to offer. The ocean represents motherhood, nurturing energy, and our connection to the earth. Humans are made of 70% water, so our connection to water is extremely important. Without water, there is no life force on earth, so here in our business, we represent all that life encompasses, from fertility and the moment of conception to parenthood and knowledge. We also support water births and Dani is studying water births, their positive effects on the birthing process, and connecting clients to their divine energies through the use of water. Lastly, Dani's guardian angels are well-known ocean and river guardians. As a tribute to them, the company is named Two Waters.

Care philosophy

Two Waters advocates for clients on a micro, mezzo, and macro level, empowering them to choose what is best for them and their baby.

I am a believer in the natural process of childbirth. I believe in instinctual power and strength in every woman; living consciously each stage and its processes. I am sure that birth marks us forever and we deserve that that moment be special, magical and unique. Having a doula is an investment and I admit it. I see myself as an asset to you, as an information resource and guide on your journey. I support you emotionally and physically, also providing information every step of the way, according to the individual needs and preferences of each family. I am always working to serve as each family deserves. I consider myself an advocate in breastfeeding.

Care philosophy

My job is to provide support that is often difficult to get in a busy maternity care service; I attend births in hospitals, birthing centers and home births. I also support mothers opting for medications, induced labor, cesarean births and VBAC in Central Florida.

Lactation Consultant: FAQs

A certified lactation consultant is a professional that helps parents address and solve their breastfeeding problems. Many new parents believe that breastfeeding is easy, only to find more obstacles than anticipated. 92% of parents say they are having problems with breastfeeding their new baby within only 3 days.

Nursing doesn’t always come naturally.

Breastfeeding can be overwhelming and all-consuming. A lactation consultant in Orlando, FL can identify issues such as low milk supply, latching problems, or nipple engorgement. They also offer advice and techniques to help parents understand existing issues, improve how they read their baby’s cues, and feel empowered about breastfeeding despite existing social norms.

Every parent’s journey is unique, and there might be specific challenges or obstacles in your particular situation. The ultimate goal of a lactation consultant is to support parents who choose to breastfeed their children. A lactation consultant in Orlando, FL can often save parents time and energy, and also give them some peace of mind.

Many mothers also face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace or lack the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed correctly. A lactation consultant in Orlando, FL can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, and solve latching, positioning, and scheduling issues.

Send the lactation consultants you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend reaching out to and interviewing at least three lactation consultants before hiring a lactation specialist near you. After interviewing, hire the most qualified lactation specialist near you and start getting the care you deserve.

The cost of a lactation consultant can vary based on a variety of factors, including their experience, their services, and their skills or specializations. Overall, the average cost of a lactation consultant in Orlando, FL is $185 per hour based on a survey of 120 lactation specialists in the Orlando, FL area.

Under the Affordable Care Act, many insurance companies should be covering the cost of lactation services. However, there are a number of factors that determine whether insurance will cover the cost of a certified lactation consultant in Orlando, FL. You should contact your insurance company for more information.

Here are some factors to consider regarding insurance and your lactation consultant cost:

  • Your insurance provider
  • Your individual health plan
  • The type of lactation specialist
  • The specific service provided

Meela’s network of lactations specialists in Orlando, FL offer both in-home lactation support sessions or virtual lactation support sessions. Both types of sessions typically last between 1 and 3 hours. In your sessions, your lactation specialist will spend time understanding the issues you are facing and work with you and your baby to diagnose the issues have and also provide specific guidance and hands-on practice and exercises.

Lactation consultants help parents understand the best way to comfortably breastfeed their baby and help them navigate breastfeeding social norms. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety about breastfeeding, or help with specific challenges (such as breastfeeding twins, for example). Other parents might just want emotional support that doesn’t currently exist within their family, workplace, or network or friends.

Certified lactation consultants can also help with specialized issues that may arise with premature children or sick children. A parent may not have thought about breastfeeding help until they notice that their baby isn’t gaining weight properly, and finally realize that they might need some support and knowledge before continuing to breastfeed. On the other hand, some parents might prepare with a lactation consultant months before the baby is born.

Whether you are planning ahead or are thinking about a lactation now that you are having breastfeeding issues or concerns, a lactation consultant can be incredibly helpful and useful for parents.

Lactation counselors in Orlando, FL can often help parents with breastfeeding and offer breastfeeding advice, training, and troubleshooting. Many of these counselors have taken the CLC exam, or the Certified Lactation Counselor exam. A certified lactation counselor has typically undergone 45 hours of training.

On the other hand, a certified lactation consultant in Orlando, FL has undergone a specific amount of clinical training hours, which is not a requirement to become a lactation counselor. These lactation consultants are certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, as well. A lactation consultant typically has a bachelor’s degree in a health field and has undergone 90 hours of training and has somewhere between 300 and 1,000 hours of experience with parents.

Lactation consultants in Orlando, FL are often working with other healthcare teams in collaboration with postpartum nurses to ensure that parents understand how to breastfeed their babies. Both lactation consultants and lactation counselors can provide support, develop feeding plans, and offer actionable advice with respect to breastfeeding.

The best approach is for parents to hire a lactation specialist early in their pregnancy so that they can help you prepare both mentally and physically. Parents don’t need to wait until your baby is born to begin thinking about breastfeeding support and education.

Some parents might be anxious about breastfeeding in public or feel like they want access to a breastfeeding expert to help both inform and support them. A lactation consultant in Orlando, FL can also help young professional parents schedule their breastfeeding efficiently so that they can return to work quicker, while others might specialize in helping with breastfeeding anxiety issues.

It is never too late to hire a certified lactation consultant in Orlando, FL. These breastfeeding consultants can also offer emotional breastfeeding support that can be valuable to those who lack family or workplace support. A lactation consultant can also be critical in identifying warning signs that might indicate more serious growth or developmental issues.

There are many documented benefits to breastfeeding, and parents often believe that it will be an easy and natural experience. Unfortunately, many parents run into issues such as low milk supply, nipple engorgement, or latching problems that can affect their baby’s health. These lactation specialists can be useful for troubleshooting, advice, or emotional support.

Certified lactation consultants can strengthen the bond between parents and their babies through breastfeeding advice, tips, and support. This might include showing parents how to help their baby latch properly, establishing feeding schedules, or dealing with sore nipples or engorgement. A lactation consultant can help new parents better understand their baby’s needs in general, and monitor the baby’s growth and development.

Lactation specialists in Orlando, FL also offer emotional support and help parents breastfeed more efficiently so that they can get back to work and allow them to better manage expectations. Many parents face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace, or do not have the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed properly and with care. These expert consultants can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, while also solving issues such as latching, positioning, and scheduling.
