My journey to birth work sparked after my first son. Even though my earliest memories are of making formula bottles for my siblings or assisting in diaper changes at the age of five. The real fire wasn't ignited until I had gone through my own pregnancies and births. When I became pregnant, I found myself in an unknown world navigating the typical path of maternity care. Dismissed by my healthcare providers and a hospital stay where I felt belittled, my voice silenced and almost every staff member that attended me were condescending and made me feel inadequate as a first-time mother. Throughout the years, I quickly realized I wasn't the only one who felt like there was a gap in compassionate reproductive care and there must be a better way to birth. Since then, I built Maternal Affinity Birth Services and my life has been all about pregnancy, birth, postpartum support, advocacy and unity ever since. Your pregnancy, your birth and the postpartum period (however long that may be for you) are the foundation of a lifelong journey. It is vital to care and nourish the new person, transitioning into postpartum who has also just been birthed. Whether this is education on a plethora of topics under the birth spectrum or continuous support and encouragement, a hand to hold to know you are not alone; or an open mind and ears to validate your emotions throughout the sea of parenthood. You do not have to cross these waters by yourself. No one should be without support. I am here to uplift you during your birth and postpartum journey. You are not alone. I will meet you in the middle, wherever that may be. I will hold space for unconditional love and healing. I am a resource of unbiased, evidence-based information. As a certified birth & bereavement doula, full-spectrum doula, evidence based birth instructor, infant microbiome instructor and lactation educator, I bring my knowledge, trainings, experience and open heart to the fullest extent with my families. You have a voice, let me help uplift it. The vibrations will break barriers. And no matter what, your birth story is yours to write.

Care philosophy

I provide postpartum support for the that ensures everyone is empowered, healing, bonding and well-rested all with the ease that your needs, wants and goals are in qualified hands. My support mirrors your unique family goals and needs while providing culturally aware and trauma informed support that extends to the entire family.

Adisela was the best thing to happen to our family! I had a rough birth and she came in the night after we were discharged from the hospital. We are first time parents and had no idea what to expect. Adisela educated us on newborn development and even helped our baby sleep through the night. She guided my partner and I while I went through postpartum anxiety and was there for every question and always validated how I was feeling. Her sitz bath blend she gifted me was amazing and she knows a lot about healing after birth. I wish I could give her 10 stars!! Recommending her postpartum doula support to every mama I know

I am a wife and the mother of 6 beautiful children. My family is the most important part of my life. Nurturing relationships with those most significant people in my life is my top priority. This is why I only take on 2-3 clients a month. I want to be able to devote the necessary energy you deserve as a client. Once you sign with me, I am available by phone or text any time. I want to develop a strong relationship of trust with you so that I can best support you and your growing family. Nurturing the body and soul with good nutrition, yoga and exercise, massage and teaching relaxation techniques that will help you throughout pregnancy and labor are of utmost importance to me. I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth and empowering women in their journey. My grandfather was an OBGYN and my mother was an herbalist so I grew up with the perfect blend of medical and holistic care. Birthwork has been my natural calling. I am a DONA trained doula as well as a Childbirth Educator. My husband Joseph and I provide classes for couples at The Educated Mama as well as private in-home classes. I offer both labor/birth support as well as postpartum services including placenta encapsulation and tinctures. I have also taken a Birth Assistant training course and currently work as a midwife assistant for local birth centers and home birth midwives.

Care philosophy

My goal is to provide all-encompassing support to the family as a whole. Whether it is birth or postpartum support services you need, I am there to assist both parents physically, emotionally and mentally. I will provide the education you need to make evidence based decisions as you prepare for your new baby and the changes ahead.

Women have been uniquely designed to create life in their wombs. Immediately after God joined together man and woman in Eden, He blessed them and told them to "be fruitful and multiply." Bringing forth a new generation is holy work, whether one realizes it or not, and our society's perspective on motherhood and birth has lasting impacts on the generations to come. Everything about feminine design is awe-inspiring - from the way only a woman's pelvis is shaped to guide a baby to the earth, or the way breasts produce such nourishing milk, or how a placenta is a completely new organ that is created to interlay nutrition and so much more to the growing baby. Furthermore, this design influences the woman and baby during the labor and birthing process. Having full confidence in a creator not only applies to our bodies, but also applies to the abundance of resources given to us through herbs and foods to positively impact and prepare our body for labor. Knowing and applying proper nutrition and proper herbal medicine is also a key factor in healthy and successful birth outcomes. Science and statistics have shown and proven that a doula who uses ancient and traditional practices to support a laboring woman greatly improves positive outcomes, increases the likeliness of a healthy mom and baby, greatly reduces the risk of emergencies and reduces the use of medications.

Care philosophy

I provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum birth support to women in the Lake County and surrounding areas. I firmly believe that the creation of life, the birth of a soul, and the development of a mother are experiences that require deep reverence - profound awe and respect. These experiences should not be given flippant attention, but diligent and personal care of utmost regard.

Hi! My name is Sabrina & I have been a Doula since 2020 helping new mothers and those who have given birth more than once either through vaginal delivery, medicated, unmediated or cesarean. I have expertise working with a variety of clientele. I have a strong desire to help mothers and their families through the delivery process by being there physically, and emotionally. I provide evidence-based information for them and also help them step into the postpartum phase with confidence. This past April I welcomed my little one so I understand what you're going through and all the thoughts that come to mind when you think about childbirth, but don't worry! We'll get through it together, one step at a time.

Care philosophy

As you your doula I will be by your side during active labor & delivery. I am able to offer comfort by using pain-relieving methods like breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, massage, and laboring positions. I have spent the past 10 years mentoring college students and helping them navigate a significant transition in their lives. I've always been interested in the healthcare field though, and when I learned about doulas I saw a great possibility of continuing to help people navigate transition and providing wholistic support to them. I went through full spectrum doula training last year and am looking forward to serving people as a birth and postpartum doula! I work with a non-profit organization so I am able to provide support to people without cost. All people deserve compassionate care and I look forward to working with anyone who may be interested in doula support but is unable to cover the cost. My labor ended with an emergency (everything is fine now). Emily was very calm during it all. I was grateful to have her reassuring presence beside me!

In the spiritual world, the river represents sweetness, fertility, love, abundance, and all the joys that life has to offer. The ocean represents motherhood, nurturing energy, and our connection to the earth. Humans are made of 70% water, so our connection to water is extremely important. Without water, there is no life force on earth, so here in our business, we represent all that life encompasses, from fertility and the moment of conception to parenthood and knowledge. We also support water births and Dani is studying water births, their positive effects on the birthing process, and connecting clients to their divine energies through the use of water. Lastly, Dani's guardian angels are well-known ocean and river guardians. As a tribute to them, the company is named Two Waters.

Two Waters advocates for clients on a micro, mezzo, and macro level, empowering them to choose what is best for them and their baby.

I am just starting my journey to becoming a true birth doula and I'm working hard to get my certification through DONA. Right now, I work as a nanny for one family, full time, but they are very supportive of my pursuing my career. As for my practice, I believe birth is about love, comfort and compassion. There will be no judgement for whatever direction you chose to take for your birth. As long as mom and baby are healthy, I'm happy. The support i provide is soled based of what you need or thing you might. I have plenty of options for comfort measures and I'm open to hear anything you have in mind.

Care philosophy

When i was a teenager, I was able to experience the process of labor and a role of support with my mother who had three home births. After everything settled down, her midwife told me I would make a great doula. Since then ive wanted to support other women through their incredible journey to motherhood.

I am a pastor’s wife, mom of 3 and a birth doula. I never knew what a doula was until after my 3rd child. I wasnt sure what I wanted to do in life but I knew birth was a passion. So I scoured the internet and came across Birth Arts International. That is where is did all of my doula training. It took me 2 years to complete. I became a doula because I wish I would have had that support when I was pregnant/in labor and after birth. I love helping families discover how strong they are. Seeing squishy, cute babies are just icing on the cake!

I am a believer in the natural process of childbirth. I believe in instinctual power and strength in every woman; living consciously each stage and its processes. I am sure that birth marks us forever and we deserve that that moment be special, magical and unique. Having a doula is an investment and I admit it. I see myself as an asset to you, as an information resource and guide on your journey. I support you emotionally and physically, also providing information every step of the way, according to the individual needs and preferences of each family. I am always working to serve as each family deserves. I consider myself an advocate in breastfeeding.

I believe women should birth where they feel safe, and with a support team that they feel comfortable with and intimately connected to. I believe our modalities of healing and heath care need to be in alignment with our belief system, to be effective. I respect the inherent shift in all of these functioning parts as we move through and evolve in life and subsequent birthing experiences. Knowing the support we call into one birth may look strikingly different than what we call into the next, or the next. My passion is assisting people in cultivating their unique pregnancy, birth and postpartum plan, rooted in autonomy, given the financial resources available to them. I will provide options, information, resources and emotional support for all pregnancy outcomes. Maternal health is foundational to humanity's health. Postpartum care is currently a missing piece of well-woman care and is a NECESSITY not a luxury. I am available to support you in this time with a closing ceremony to honor your transition into motherhood. I believe nutrition is fundamental to our health and healing, especially in the postpartum period. I can provide meal planning and preparation, household clean up, lactation support and sibling care so you can focus on snuggling with your baby and partner.

Care philosophy

Every birth is a transformation, a rite of passage, that is profoundly connected to everything that comes after, for generations. Just as so, all of your prior rites of passage and influences will affect what you bring into your birth experience; including your own birth, personal and generational traumas, family stories, cultural stories, your relationship with your menstrual cycle and your body.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Orlando, FL: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

A doula in Orlando, FL can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Orlando, FL does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. 1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Orlando, FL; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
