My first baby was a high needs newborn who helped me find my passion for baby wearing, navigating the challenges of breastfeeding, alternative approaches to newborn care such as bodywork and cransioscacral therapy. She would scream all day long and I made it my mission to learn everything I possibly could during that stage of our lives. It was a fragile period for me as I struggled recovering physically and emotionally from giving birth with a tiny newborn who required everything I had to give plus a little more. She also helped me find my passion for guiding and empowering women through their motherhood journey so that they could find the knowledge they already have within them on what their family needs or how to find it..

Care philosophy

My goal as a birth and postpartum doula is to help my clients feel empowered, informed, and supported throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.

I’ve worked in childcare for over a decade, specializing in infant and toddler care. I’ve worked in daycares, preschools, as a private nanny and even in an award winning Montessori school. None of that compares to how much I love my work as a doula though. While childcare was and always will be a passion of mine, I’ve found my true calling is supporting birthing parents and their newborns. It’s such an honor getting to facilitate bonding throughout pregnancy, the birthing process and postpartum. I really love getting to work with families through their journey so I can be the rock that offering evidence based support, helping teach your partner support you during your birth so you get double the comfort and they get to be involved as possible, and of course learning how to be a parent. It’s so magical getting to help families learn how to care for their newborn or if they are very experienced helping with overnights so everyone can get good rest to be their best selves the next day. We are determined to serve parents no matter what their choices or situation is. I have supported single mothers by choice, women recovering from domestic violence, teen mothers, bereavement cases, and everything inbetween. I am always willing to learn more to support your needs as well. Continuing education is vital to my practice. Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope I get the opportunity to serve your family.

Care philosophy

Caring for parents before, during and after birth is so important. You’ve gone through enormous changes, and you deserve someone to hold your hand through it. I love cooking, light cleaning (laundry, dishes, tidying up, etc) and supporting overnight. Sleep is essential for our health, let me help you get the rest you deserve, and wake up to all the tasks you need done just the way you want it.

Phelix Bleu Gamble

Bleu is in a fun phase of life that includes wedding planning, meal prepping, and preparing to start her own journey to motherhood. She believes that home is where the heart is, and owns a plethora of bathrobes. Bleu loves reading, making coffee, cooking, film photography, and her cat! She spends all of her non-doula time being a homemaker, just like her grandmother. Bleu was raised in a community that valued motherhood, homemaking, and supporting new parents. Being brought up by her grandmother led her in becoming a caregiver early on in life, anything her grandmother did to nurture, she turned around and provided the same care. She and her grandmother bond now over how much things like car seat standards have progressed, the difference in cloth diapers, and they make sure to call each other daily. She really values teaching parents how to care for their new addition to the family, and will show up for you in a variety of ways. Some of her favorite teaching moments have been introducing a bottle/how to pace feed, teaching how to baby wear, and giving resources on local movement classes.

Care philosophy

Bleu is a strong advocate for trauma informed care, and applies those principles to all of her work. Bleu is equipped with knowledge on transitioning home from nicu stays, supporting families with neurodivergent children, and supporting families with multiples. Bleu believes that every parent deserves the confidence that they are taking care of their newborn (or big kids) in the way that is best.

It can be a scary and nerve wracking experience having someone you don’t know very well taking care of your baby but honestly there was not a moment that I worried when Emily was with my baby. She is kind, thoughtful, gentle and warm and I really believe that babies can sense this about her. Our daughter was always so happy and calm with Emily. I truly cannot say enough good things about Emily and if you hire her, I guarantee you will not be disappointed- Emily and her support during the postpartum period truly is an investment in your baby, your family and your much needed sleep. My wife and I highly recommend Emily as a postpartum professional.

I believe our bodies instinctively know how to handle pregnancy, labor, and birth. During this time, we should learn to love and respect this amazing process. I believe that pregnancy and birth are natural processes in a woman’s life. This journey should not be feared. I believe that labor and birth is a beautiful and sacred life-changing events. As your doula, I have the honor to support you throughout this journey, encourage you and remind you of your strength and power, and hold space for you. I believe in a woman’s confidence and ability to birth. I also believe that this confidence can be shattered by those that are in her circle. Those around her can either influence it for the better or hinder it if they do not trust the process. I believe there are many ways to birth, and there is no wrong way to birth! You must find what is right for you. I believe a woman should feel comfortable and safe during her labor and birth. She should feel supported. As your doula, I will support your choice whether it is to labor at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center. I will honor and respect your family beliefs, preferences, communication styles, and comfort techniques, this allows me to tailor my support to fit your individual needs and desires. I believe every woman should be an active participant in her labor and birth experience. I believe in informed consent- giving you evidence and information about the risks and benefits of every procedure so that you can make the best decision for yourself and your baby. As your doula, I will help you gather the knowledge and resources to be better informed throughout your journey to conceive, and your pregnancy and childbirth. I will encourage you and I will remind you of your goals and values. It is my hope and dreams that you feel supported throughout your pregnancy, childbirth & beyond.
