Specific support varies each day based on the needs of the family, but can include: offering assistance with breastfeeding and bottle feeding; helping to facilitate the birthing parent’s rest and recovery; providing a nonjudgmental and caring space to process your birth story and postpartum experience; infant care instruction such as swaddling, soothing techniques, developmental expectations; light housework; meal prep; and more! I also have experience with multiples and LOVE working with them! I can help you set up routines that work well with more than one baby and support you as you grow into your role as a parent of multiples. While it may feel overwhelming, I will support you every step of the way.

Care philosophy

It is my privilege and joy to create a safe and loving environment for families as they grow. Non-judgmental support combined with professional training and experience can be invaluable to beginning the journey of parenting a new child with calm and confidence.

Brandy was amazing with our newborn twins. As a first time mom, Brandy helped guide us during those early months and “show us the ropes”. She provided essential care for our girls and for us as a family. She is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Would highly recommend her to anyone!

Cindi Schweitzer (MCPCD) (Madriella Professional Certified Doula) has always taken pride in her nurturing personality. She completed certifications for birth and postpartum doula services through Madriella. Education is very important to her. Cindi works to support birthing families with evidence-based information. She thinks that informed decisions result in a fulfilling birth. Additionally, Cindi has training from TheVBAClink and Rebozo (uses for pregnancy & labor). As a mother of three she not only draws from her education, but also from her own personal experiences. Regardless of the birth each family chooses, Cindi hopes that every family she serves feels encouraged, embraced and educated. She provides support to families choosing natural or medicated childbirth in hospital, at home as wells as planned cesarean sections. As a doula, Cindi can provide that extra encouraging support every mom needs.

Care philosophy

I believe that trusting a mothers intuition will never guide us the wrong way.

As a labor doula I will provide two prenatal visits to meet mom and her birthing partner if she chooses to have one. During this time we get to know each other, cover specific topics to educate her, answer questions and work on real releasing if needed. In general I will mom at the birthing location of her choice but I will also meet her at her house if requested. As a hypo doula I will do the same as above and be familiar with Mom's hypnosis technique and terminology to support her. As a postpartum doula I will support mom in her house after birth. These visits are very flexible and based on Moms needs from newborn care, lactation, birth story to light house work, sibling or animal care. Additionally I offer Prenatal and postpartum Yoga.

Care philosophy

My birthing philosophy is to meet and support "Momma" on her birthing journey. I want her to find her own birthing philosophy through education. Whatever that might be for her, is what I will support. I will do whatever Mom needs to make her feel comfortable and supported. I will encourage and motivate and be by her side.

Sabine was a deep sigh in a very stressful time. She helped me with breathing exercises, was very present and helpful at my birthing center birth, helped with exercises to help the contractions along, coached me through a low-pain labor, and was there when medical staff was unavailable during later stages of labor. Having her support was invaluable. She was also our post petunia doula, which was such a blessing as I have two other children. She played with the older kids, folded laundry, let me rest/shower/run errands… it was such a smoother transition than it could have been. Such a blessing as all our family is on the west coast. Thank you, Sabine!

Hello, my name is Nitalia, I am a military wife and mother of two. Ever since I was a young girl, I had a passion for all things pregnancy, childbirth, babies, and helping others which eventually grew into the dream of wanting to become an OBGYN. I am still pursuing this dream but I desired to do something that would utilize my interests in the meantime putting me on the path to get certified as a birth and postpartum doula. “I would definitely recommend trying the ASMR treatment. With being a new mom and my husband being away the ASMR session helped so much to reduce my stress before my delivery. Natalia was an amazing resource and doula throughout my pregnancy and helped to reassure me as a new mom of all the crazy but normal things in pregnancy.” -Sarah F.

A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in North Charleston, SC offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in North Charleston, SC can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in North Charleston, SC. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in North Charleston, SC, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in North Charleston, SC is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in North Charleston, SC: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
