I started as a doula because of my own birth experience. I had a high risk pregnancy so I felt I had no other choice but to listen to what the doctors told me. I was induced and ended with a c section. My experience made me want to help other families know all their options for their birth. I provide both birth and postpartum support. I know how tough the early postpartum days can be so I want to be there to help mama and family adjust to life with a newborn. I love what I do and love supporting mothers.

Care philosophy

As a postpartum and birth doula, my main goal is to support mama and her family. To give the education and support that is needed to help them make an informed decision. To feel uplifted by their birth and supported during the postpartum days.

Juliet Henson is a DONA trained Birth Doula, Cloth Diapering Educator, and owner of Empowered Lotus Doula Services. She earned her degree in Music Education with a minor in Spanish, but took a turn in her career path when she gave birth to her first child. Now, since she obviously can’t birth 100 babies, she is thrilled to support others on their journeys. The details of childbirth can be recalled for the rest of a parent’s life. When the parents make their own INFORMED decisions in birth, they will remember their birth experience as positive. They must feel loved, supported and EMPOWERED. Raising her family, some by birth and some by loving choice after their births, has given Juliet a unique perspective in family dynamics. Guiding family members of “blended” families of all configurations through the changes a new baby brings is near to her heart. With a strong and nurtured partner relationship, transitions are eased and incredible bonds grow! After living through her own miscarriage, she is also passionate about helping families navigate pregnancy after loss. Juliet enjoys parenting her 7 children, growing organic fruits and vegetables, tending to her backyard chickens, and teaching her kids a more sustainable, natural lifestyle. She is always learning and striving to do better in her personal and community life.

Care philosophy

Childbirth is a sacred, personal, powerful experience. I dedicate myself to supporting the laboring couple in the unique way they need. Through prenatal meetings, I get to know my clients personally. This way, I am prepared to meet those individual needs in the labor and birth process. Truly informed choices are key to experiencing an empowering birth, so I also focus on personalized education.

My experience includes preemies, high needs newborns, medically fragile newborns, special needs newborns, at risk newborns, etc. I am a DONA certified postpartum doula. I have taken postpartum doula training at Bastyr University, a course on breastfeeding, a course on drug affected infant care, and many more infant care courses. I also attended a DONA approved birth doula training. I am also a proud member of the OKC Metro Birth Professionals. My comfort level with newborns is high and I relish helping you experience the joy of a new baby!

Care philosophy

The birth and newborn stages are a short time, but also a special time for the family. Birth and postpartum assistance can be the difference between a stressful, frustrating time and an amazing, gratifying time. My goal is to support and encourage parents during labor and delivery, as well as the 4th trimester. My hope is that you will feel special, supported, enabled, and remembered.

I am a certified DONA and Madriella Birth Doula. I am also certified through Madriella as a postpartum doula and a Childbirth Educator. My heart is full of passion for pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester. I began working with families when I was a teenager. The passion was instinctual and naturally grew as I got older. But it took me into my late 30's to turn this passion into my career. I immediately began learning everything I could about pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. I am continually taking classes, online and in-person, to gain more knowledge and education so that I can pass it on to my client! A little about me...I have been married for 18 years. My husband and I have four children, all adopted through foster care. And we now have two precious granddaughters (my very favorite if I say so myself 😉) I would really love to meet you and your family. Please contact me for a free consultation so we can get to know one another and see if I would be the doula you desire!

Care philosophy

My love for moms and her family go back as far in my life as I can remember. I love that I can take my passion and turn it into a career. When you hire me, you will have all my support with my whole heart. I serve my clients through education, encouragement, honesty, and compassion. I am unbiased and non-judgmental. My goal is for you to have the best transition into adding to your family!

I found Courtney early in my pregnancy. She helped me switch providers to one that was more to my liking. She saved me so many pointless ER trips + answered all my questions efficiently and provided evidence based research with every answer. She calmed all my new mama nerves by helping inform me. I went to birth confidently in my power as a birthing women with her and my husband along my side and brought forth a beautiful baby boy, following my birth plan as much as possible and advocating for me in my fragile after birth state. She provided placenta services and continues to visit and help me 16 months postpartum. I consider her a genuine friend and she’s full of so much knowledge and love. I can confidently recommend her.

It should be noted that the price of a night nanny in Midwest City, OK will likely increase if the night nanny is contracted to deal with twins or multiple children. Also, a night nanny’s cost may depend on their level of education, the needs of the newborn, or their exact responsibilities for specific clients.

There are some situations in which your insurance company will help you cover the costs of childcare, and this can obviously help those parents that want their baby’s needs met but might not be as financially secure. Unfortunately, a night nanny usually isn’t covered by insurance.

However, there are some cases where a night nanny is covered by insurance. For example, if your child health issues, parents may want to check to see whether their night nanny costs can be covered by their insurance company since their role is more directly related to your child’s health.

There are many situations in which parents might consider a night nanny in Midwest City, OK. First, both parents might be working long hours, which means that neither of them have the time to actually bathe/feed/swaddle the child when necessary. Some parents might already rely on friends and family, but realize that they require more help when it comes to their children.

A night nanny is also often most necessary in situations where there are twins or triplets. These parents simply may need extra help to care for these children night after night, and night nannies can help take over some of the workload. For first-time parents, for example, having to care for multiple children for the first time can be overwhelming and stressful. Other parents might also be dealing with mental health issues or postpartum depression.

A night nanny is expected to care for the baby as the parent would if they were awake. Night nannies wash baby bottles, prepare feeds, sterilize pump equipment, and more. Overnight nannies also bathe, feed, diaper, and swaddle the baby, as well. A night nanny can also provide care in situations where the mother might be recovering from a C-section, for example.

In many cases, the process is simple: a parent often hands off their baby to their night nanny so that they can get some much-needed sleep. The night nanny remains at the household until the parent(s) wake up, and then night nannies leave once the parents can take over child care duties.

Every family’s needs are different, but night nannies are expected to burp the baby, bathe the baby, prepare formula, and provide other nanny duties. In summary, overnight nannies in Midwest City, OK are expected to keep the baby fed, comfortable, clean, rested, and dry.

However, night nannies are not expected to complete household chores that are unrelated to baby care. It’s also important to note that a night nanny in Midwest City, OK will obviously need to get their rest, as well – so bedding must be provided. A night nanny typically sleeps once the baby is already resting and their nanny chores are complete.

A night nanny can often help parents with emotional support or provide extra help for a sick child. An overnight nanny in Midwest City, OK can help reduce stress and anxiety for many new parents who might have issues with their work-life balance.

One of the most obvious differentiators in the world of night nannies in Midwest City, OK is the fact that a night nanny might have specific experience with children of a specific age. Some night nannies might have certifications such as nursing certifications or sleep certifications. Many night nannies are often involved for the first six weeks of childbirth, and some of them remain with parents for months.

For example, some night nannies might have specialized skills for children aged 1-2, while others may be more experienced with children aged 3-4. Obviously, the responsibilities of these night nannies in Midwest City, OK differ depending on the age of the children that they are supervising.

Some night nannies might be CPR-certified or first-aid certified, which can give more peace of mind to parents who might be concerned about potential sleep or breathing issues. Other overnight nannies might specialize in newborns that have colic or reflux issues, as well.

There are some overnight nannies in Midwest City, OK that might be open to caring for your child while you are traveling out of town, while other nannies might not be available for that amount of time. There is no certification required to become a night nanny in Midwest City, OK. However, some night nannies choose to become newborn care specialists, and undergo NCS training.

There are some families that try to compare the concept of a “night nanny” to an “overnight babysitter.” The main difference here involves the level of commitment that a night nanny has to a newborn, versus a babysitter that may only have to provide minimal care to a newborn or child.

A babysitter is often not responsible for actually creating/fixing meals for newborns, washing their baby bottles, or doing their laundry. While a babysitter might monitor a newborn or make sure that they are safe – a nanny might spend time soothing a newborn, swaddling them, or taking care of their meals and clothes. A nanny has more obligations than a babysitter, and are considered more of an “extension” of the parents.
