I can help parents organize the nursery to make things more convenient and easier to handle. I am highly trained to take care of singletons, twins or even triplets, so parents with multiple newborns are not so overwhelmed and stressed. When I am available to care for newborns 24 hours a day, the new parents have time to adjust to having an infant in the home. It makes it possible for them to get the sleep they need so they can adjust slowly. Even parents who already have children at home can use the extra help, so they have time to take care of their other children.

  Kate was an absolute livesaver for us. We were so incredibly grateful to have her join our family for the crazy early postpartum days with our second child. Kate is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. She is also remarkably industrious — I had no idea that someone could get so much done with a newborn strapped to their body. She was wonderful with our newborn, and also very helpful with our toddler. Kate completely saved my sanity when my husband went back to work and I was so sleep-deprived. Thanks to Kate, I was able to do things like shower, nap, eat, pump, and have special one-on-one time with my toddler. It was particularly crucial to have an extra set of hands around since I was recovering from a c-section. I sincerely do not know what we would have done without her. Her support helped me work on building up my breastmilk supply and reduce overall stress in the household. If we are insane enough to have a third child, we will be calling Kate to set up another contract with her. We were very sad to say goodbye at the end of our contract.   I really appreciated Natalie! She was very attentive, and always knew when to call. She asked me what my needs were and she cater to those her soothing voice was just what I needed when I was going through my contractions. And she was surprisingly strong enough to help me up. I would recommend Natalie to any expecting mother even my midwives who met her, loved her and said she was very nice.   From the first moment you spend in Natasha’s orbit, it’s abundantly clear why she chose the path of doula—or maybe that it chose her! Natasha is an incredibly calming, nurturing, and supportive presence, yet her confidence, assertiveness and poise radiate just as strongly. This unique combination of traits is absolutely key for a person serving that role.

  I was fortunate enough to have Natasha right by my side as my doula and friend throughout my entire labor and birthing experience. She brought everything I needed physically, mentally and emotionally and intuitively always knew which tools to pull from the kit. She spoke up for me when it didn’t even cross my mind and she anticipated exactly when to lead with humor, when to cry with me, when to rub my shoulders, when to pull back my hair and when to just hold my hand. She effortlessly collaborated with the entire medical staff, making me feel like I was on a winning team. Her expertise, knowledge, assuredness and optimism gave me an overarching sense of security all along the way.

  From my perspective, just the idea of having a baby is painful and scary no matter how you slice it…but somehow, Natasha also made it fun.

Birth and postpartum have always been very revered in my culture and I always say I have been a doula for my whole life because of this. I love to bring this idea of birth and postpartum as something to be celebrated to all kinds of cultures and backgrounds. I incorporate my knowledge as an herbalist, student midwife, and home-birth mother in offering support to families. I offer birth doula services that include birth prep and prenatal visits as well as mother-focused postpartum services.

  Lucero was able to educate both my husband and I on what to expect throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Having her there every step of the way helped ease any worries we had as first time parents. She helped make my extremely long birth enjoyable and stuck with me the whole way through. Her postpartum care is top notch, she even helped me breastfeed after struggling to do so for weeks. I cannot recommend her enough!

  Working with Michelle was one of the best decisions we made for me, my pregnancy, and our family. From our earliest interactions during her classes in our home, she demonstrated a depth of knowledge about evidence-based birth and was so patient when answering our questions and asking questions of her own to learn more about what I wanted for my hospital birth. I also love that she took time to get to know me and my husband as individuals and a couple. Not only did it demonstrate a sense of care for our family, but enabled her to understand our dynamic which helped when supporting both of us in labor and delivery.

  As we got closer to delivery, Michelle answered all my texts and took time to check in with me via phone on the most difficult days. I always felt comfortable sharing my worries and fears with Michelle—she has a natural sense of empathy which made me feel so supported. When my birth plan changed and I elected to be induced, Michelle made sure I was informed and supported in my decisions.

  After my daughter was born, Michelle’s support during the postpartum period was valuable beyond measure. From supporting my physical recovery and lactation, to helping me feel pampered in the comfort of home, and being someone I could cry/vent/laugh with is something that I’ll carry close to my heart for a long time.

  The birth of my daughter is something I’ll never forget, and I am so grateful Michelle is entwined in that memory.

Jessamyn is a second generation birth professional and began her journey into birthwork after the birth of her own daughter in 2007. She has supported hundreds of families in their journeys of early pregnancy through the postpartum years in childbirth education, labor and birth support, and bodywork.   Jessamyn is experienced, supportive, kind and connected. She was basically our private tutor for all things pregnancy and birthing. What I liked most when we first met her was that she had hospital, birth center and home birth experience but wasn’t pushing us in any one direction, she was just supportive of us and our plan. We ended choosing to have a home birth with a midwife. My wife was in labor for around 18-20 hours at home and was very close giving birth but in the end she needed to rest so we ended up going to the hospital to have an epidural so she could sleep. Jessamyn was right there by our side after more than 36 hours. She worked harmoniously with the nurses and the medical staff while also advocating that the staff be transparent and communicate what they were doing when they were doing it. She enabled us to have a vaginal birth when it seemed the odds were against us. We are eternally grateful for the beautiful birthing experience she helped facilitate. She is a part of our family now.

I started Postpartum Connection & Wellness in the Spring of 2021, after witnessing firsthand the significant lack of support for postpartum families in the wake of global stress. Building on my background as a licensed clinical social worker, my goal as a doula is to provide you and your family with all of the information and support helpful to make the best decisions for you and your newborn.   I wholeheartedly recommend Ashley Fryer! She is a passionate and gifted newborn specialist with a unique ability to come up with creative options to support both mother and child. She arrives early and stays late when necessary, and consistently seeks feedback while offering constructive advice. Ashley has a well-developed communication style. She provided emotional support to the entire family through her natural ability to nurture and communicate.
  Ashley is thoughtful, patient and compassionate; dedicated and non-judgmental; loving and trustworthy; among many other qualities. She is a natural and supported me through the birth and early development of my first child–all during a difficult time of isolation during the pandemic.   Rachel is amazing!! I worked with a midwife and she told me the importance of having a Doula. She then recommended Rachel and my husband and I loved her right away. She was there for me through my 3 day labor at home and at the hospital. Helping, and training me on breathing and moving techniques to help with the pain. She knew exactly where to place her gentle touch. She made me feel safe and empowered when I was scared and unsure! I can’t imagine going through birth without her. We love Rachel so much and I am so grateful to have met her.

I got my doula certification, and started graduate school in the summer of 2023. I received my certification as a Lactation Educator in the winter of 2023 through my university. I have two children, so I know the ups and downs of postpartum first hand. I want to provide other new parents with the support I wish I'd received. Postpartum support is critical, and should be the standard of care for all. I love tapping into my academic resources in my practice, especially when breastfeeding questions come up. I am quick on my feet with troubleshooting, and I will also be there to listen when that's what's needed.
