I began my doula practice when I realized birthing mothers were being failed by the healthcare industry and missing a huge component in childbirth--humanity. Unfortunately, many hospitals are run like big business and the hospitals are rampant with unperpaid and overworked staff. Becoming a birth worker has allowed me to put the human touch of empathy and care back into the blessed experience of childbirth and the postpartum journey.
