Practice overview
I have been working as a birth Doula since 2012, and as a postpartum Doula since 2017. I am dona certified for the use of a tens unit in labor, I am a HypnoBirthing Doula, and have completed specialized training in optimal fetal positioning. I am also the former co-leader of the Northern New Jersey chapter of Ican (international cesarean awareness network) and a facilitator of a new parents group. I have four kids of my own, the first born by C-section for failure to progress, and the other three in hospital Vbac. I often say I am not just a Doula, I’m a doula customer! I have attended everything from homebirth two scheduled C-section, so I am very much used to the multiple variations birth can present!

She is compassionate, kind, attentive and all around amazing. She was also my doula for my second child, and will now will be again for my third. Highly recommended.

She is extremely knowledgeable and is able to provide incredible resources to the families she provides care for. Anne provides support to families from conception through labor and delivery, post partum, and through loss should it occur. If my daughter were to be having a baby, Anne would be the Doula I would want my daughter to have by her side. She is a professional who can support families no matter the need and is phenomenal with families who are attempting to VBAC, and those who have experienced trauma. Anne Schuchman provides unconditional support, education, and advocacy. She is someone you want as part of your birth team.

She attended all of my births, and each time I found out I was pregnant again, my husband’s first question was, “Did you call Anne?!” Her devotion, knowledge, and warmth made me feel at ease during all appointments and during childbirth itself. She ensured that my wishes were honored and I completed my goals of unmedicated deliveries— her calming and supportive manner helped me feel safe and confident. Chatting with Anne during the easy parts of labor was a delight, and she knew exactly when to slip into quiet mode, helpful mode, support mode— Anne is a doula who knows how to read her mommies! I would recommend Anne to anyone in search of a capable, respectful, warm and loving doula.

Anne put me at ease and helped me be excited about the births, especially getting me prepared with my first.
We encountered some tricky decisions with each birth but she helped me stay level headed. I also feel she took a great amount of pressure off my husband because he knew he wouldn’t be the only one supporting me through the births.
My first birth was an induction and she helped me use my Hypnobirthing and other methods to keep me relaxed and get me through the labor. My second was SO fast and Anne helped me process my precipitous labor.
My third was very tricky. I had two ECVs to try to flip him and ended up with an emergency C-Section. I could not have gotten through this experience without Anne! She even supported me afterwards working through what happened with the birth. This helped me greatly and I am forever thankful she was there to listen and hold space while I processed what happened.
I can only say positive things about Anne! I highly recommend her! I am so grateful and honored that she was a part of my children’s births!
