Practice overview
Welcome to TzimTzum Doula. My name is Anna Calamaro and I am a DONA International trained birth and postpartum doula. I believe pregnant encompasses the body and the soul. Pregnant should not just be a physical condition to be endured; rather, it should be a meaningful phase in your life. When I am not working as a pastoral care professional at Cedars-Sinai or taking classes in rabbinical school, you can find me binging birth videos on YouTube! I marvel at the miracle of birth. After reading Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, the strength and wisdom of women giving birth and assisting the birthing process awakened something within me. I realized birth work was meant to be at the core of my career. Being a doula encompasses so many facets of my personality: the caring, nurturing and supportive side, the educator and lifelong learning side, and the spiritual, ritual, and community building side. While embarking all these parts, I recognize that there are times when the most important role I can play as a doula is to be still, quiet, patient, and calm in order to support the birther and help them embrace their own personal experience.
