Practice overview
Anissa Cornelius is a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator and DONA-trained birth doula who loves supporting families. She has been serving families as a doula since 2016 and teaching comprehensive childbirth classes since 2017, after training with CAPPA, obtaining her certification in November 2018. She is also a trained midwife assistant and certified Breastfeeding Specialist. Her interest in birth work started with her first pregnancy and quickly grew into a full blown passion for supporting birthing people, their birthing needs and their families.

She is always professional while being relatable. She has a peaceful presence about her that has always left clients feel calm and safe.

When my water broke at 1:34 in the morning she called me and reassured me everything will be okay and provided detail instructions on what to do. She helped keep my spirits up when I felt like giving up. When things took a turn, she remained calm, stayed by my side and explained everything that was going on. I needed up having an emergency c-section and she was the first face I saw after being woken up and wheeled out of the operating room! She advocated for me as if she was advocating for herself! I felt, comfortable, confident and like a bad ass momma! I truly don’t know what I would have done without her! I could only hope everyone gets to experience the level of professionalism and love I felt from her! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone I know!
Thank you so much for all you did, done and continue to do! You have made my birthing experience one I will never forget !!

She taught my husband and I an excellent birth class in addition to being my doula. She wasn’t able to come to the hospital during my delivery due to COVID rules but she provided exceptional virtual support. She did a few postpartum visits that helped me immensely and she helped me with breastfeeding support as well.

She came to our house multiple times through our my pregnancy and tough my husband and I so much about pregnancy and labor and all of our options. She really helped myself and my husband learn about our options and how he could best support me through labor. Anissa wasn’t able to come to the hospital with us due to Covid but she did labor with us at home and in the parking lot before I was ready to go in. She also kept checking up with myself and my husband. I had a wonderful birth and I think the knowledge Anissa provided for us really help us achieve the birth we wanted. She also came to visit postpartum and gave great breastfeeding advice and support. I would highly recommend Anissa to any expected moms!

Firstly, Anissa empowered me to have the labor and delivery I wanted; I was able to have my child in a cozy birth center with no medical interventions. She helped me maintain composure throughout labor and to feel confident, safe, and strong. She was honest and straightforward yet empathetic. I really can’t believe emphasize enough how skilled she is with her “bedside manner” with an experience like labor that can be so grueling. Most of all, she was there in the very challenging early weeks (and beyond) providing excellent advice, support, and encouragement. She always encouraged me to reach out for resources and kindly, promptly, professionally provided quality ones every time I did — which was often! I can’t thank her enough. I hope that she will have availability for my next pregnancy because she was simply incredible, I will be so disappointed to work with anyone else!
