Ultrasound & laser for clogged duct
Physical therapy intervention with ultrasound and manual therapy for clogged milk ducts works wonders in conjunction with a qualified lactation consultant. The combination of ultrasound and manual therapy has been shown in the literature to be effective at clearing blocked milk ducts resulting in decreased pain, decreased difficulty with breastfeeding, and improved confidence in clearing blockages (Cooper & Kowalsky, 2015). In addition to ultrasound therapy we provide laser treatment and manual therapy techniques to further clear the clogged duct along with patient education and home program for self-management and prevention of recurrent clogged ducts.

    Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of inserting tiny sterile needles in specific points on the body to manipulate the flow of energy or Qi. When your body is healthy this energy flows freely, but if there are blockages of this energy you may experience symptoms. The goal of acupuncture is to clear the blockages to allow this energy to flow freely again to address your symptoms and maintain optimal health. This unique treatment aims to get to the root of the problem and can often provide results when traditional treatment approaches cannot. During pregnancy and postpartum our Qi can become blocked because of the changes that our body goes through, which can lead to symptoms

    Hand & Wrist Therapy
Hand therapy can be a very effective treatment for women experiencing any pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in their hands, wrists, or fingers. Unfortunately, hand and wrist pain is very common in pregnancy and postpartum due to swelling and overuse of the hands and wrists with childcare activities. To alleviate your symptoms your hand therapist may perform a combination of manual techniques, kinesiotaping, graston technique, over the counter or custom thermoplastic orthotic fittings, therapeutic exercises, and will provide you with a home exercise program to manage your symptoms on your own.

    Breath, Core & Yoga Therapy
Everyone could benefit from one-on-one breath, body & yoga sessions regardless of what stage of life you're in, The breath is the key to the core, along with mindfulness and mental health, and it is the foundation that we need to address during pregnancy and especailly postpartum. The diaphragm is the top of our core system, so without appropriate breathing the rest of our core can't function optimally. Many women during pregnancy start to breathe more shallowly as the belly grows, and most moms continue to have this dysfunctional breathing pattern postpartum, which can lead to many abdominal and pelvic floor symptoms. Posture & alignment is another key focus during these sessions to restore optimal neutral posture.

    Labor Prep Session
-Labor positions with biofeedback to determine in which positions your pelvic floor muscles are the most relaxed -"Perinal Prep" or massage techniques to prevent perineal tearing -Partner techniques for managing back discomfort during labor -Breathing techniques with pelvic floor muscle relaxation Biofeedback is great tool that we can use in your home to assess and treat your pelvic floor muscles. This is a tool that measures nerve activity in your pelvic floor muscles and then transmits it to the biofeedback device or a computer so you can see your pelvic floor muscle activity on the screen as your muscles contract and relax. It provides a great visual for you to see the strength, endurance, and relaxation of the pelvic floor.

    Real-time Ultrasound for Abdomen
Real-time ultrasound is a new technology that can allow us to measure a diastasis and view all of the structures of the core musculature. This provides us additional information about your individual muscle recruitment during certain movements or exercises that we wouldn't otherwise be able to know just by feeling or watching the abdomen. You will be able to see your deep muscles on the screen and this knowledge will help us to identify any poor core recruitment strategies and help us to train the right muscles for optimal core rehab and getting the "belly back" after baby.
