Hi all, I am a mom of three. My most top question people ask is How was my birth experiences? I've got to experience three very different births. My first baby was a Cesarean birth. My second was a VBAC and the third was preterm born via Vaginal. So, there you have it. Every birth has it very unique birthing story. The body does what it wants. I have been a Certified Labor Doula for over a year now. It has been absolutely amazing to support and help other women. I am currently in school working on RN degree to advance my career in the birthing field. I first began my journey attending my sister's birth back in 2017.I was able to witness and support her in ways that I didn't think was possible. Helping women be an advocate for themselves is so important to me.

Care philosophy

My birthing philosophy is every birth has it very own unique story. I believe birth should be exciting and not fearful. Every women birth preference is different. Follow me on IG and FB @Gifteddoulallc

Madhu was such an asset to my birth support team! From the first time I met her, she thoroughly listened to mine and my partners wants and needs and supported me the entire time. Having her as my doula really helped me have the birth I dreamed of. At every meeting, my partner and I learned something new and how to prepare for the arrival of our baby. So when the time came, we felt well equipped and prepared to stick to my birth plan. She provided us with comfort measures, information to make our own decisions, and most importantly peace of mind. I definitely recommend having Made as your doula!

When I say that God placed Doula work in my path, I truly mean it. I graduated from Millersville University with my Bachelor's in Social Work, so helping my community has always been a passion of mine. During the current COVID-19 pandemic, Diversifying Doulas was an amazing program created through an organization called Patients R Waiting, that fully funded women of color in Lancaster, PA to become Doulas for FREE, as well as serve pregnant women of color in the community for free with our services, funded through Patients R Waiting! I happened to be scrolling on Facebook, I came across the program, and the rest was fate. Since then, I am now a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, and I am currently working towards my official DONA certification. With my background in Social Work and my deep empathy for advocating for women, becoming a Doula has been nothing short of empowering and amazing. Now, I aspire to share my newfound knowledge of the strength of women, as well as how to cope with labor, birth, and postpartum to help women experience pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with confidence and support.

Care philosophy

I am so passionate about informed consent, and helping my mamas to be understand their options during labor and birth to create a birth plan, help mamas understand their bodies through comfort measures and understanding labor, as well as empowering mamas to advocate for their baby, their body, and their birth. I hope through my services to help educate, empower, and inform!

As a nurse, I believe in evidence-based information, so that a birthing person can make the best-informed decisions for themselves and their family. Support should be unbiased and unconditional. I became a doula because I found that there is a large need for birthing people to be their own empowered advocates during births. There is also a need for support during labor, in which the nursing staff no longer provides (25% of nurses time is actually patient care.) When hiring us, you will have 2 birth doulas, who work in a partnership to ensure you have care continuity.

Care philosophy

(You can find us at www.dauphincountydoulas.com) "Empower. Inform. Support." Be informed about your options and fully supported, so you can be empowered at your birth. We provide birth and postpartum doula services to expecting parents. Whether first time or fifth time parents, whether birthing in a hospital or attended at home, whether single or multiples, we will provide services.

A postpartum doula in Lancaster, PA is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Lancaster, PA offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Lancaster, PA can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Lancaster, PA. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Lancaster, PA, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Lancaster, PA is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Lancaster, PA: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
