My first baby was a high needs newborn who helped me find my passion for baby wearing, navigating the challenges of breastfeeding, alternative approaches to newborn care such as bodywork and cransioscacral therapy. She would scream all day long and I made it my mission to learn everything I possibly could during that stage of our lives. It was a fragile period for me as I struggled recovering physically and emotionally from giving birth with a tiny newborn who required everything I had to give plus a little more. She also helped me find my passion for guiding and empowering women through their motherhood journey so that they could find the knowledge they already have within them on what their family needs or how to find it..

Care philosophy

My goal as a birth and postpartum doula is to help my clients feel empowered, informed, and supported throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.

I’ve worked in childcare for over a decade, specializing in infant and toddler care. I’ve worked in daycares, preschools, as a private nanny and even in an award winning Montessori school. None of that compares to how much I love my work as a doula though. While childcare was and always will be a passion of mine, I’ve found my true calling is supporting birthing parents and their newborns. It’s such an honor getting to facilitate bonding throughout pregnancy, the birthing process and postpartum. I really love getting to work with families through their journey so I can be the rock that offering evidence based support, helping teach your partner support you during your birth so you get double the comfort and they get to be involved as possible, and of course learning how to be a parent. It’s so magical getting to help families learn how to care for their newborn or if they are very experienced helping with overnights so everyone can get good rest to be their best selves the next day. We are determined to serve parents no matter what their choices or situation is. I have supported single mothers by choice, women recovering from domestic violence, teen mothers, bereavement cases, and everything inbetween. I am always willing to learn more to support your needs as well. Continuing education is vital to my practice. Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope I get the opportunity to serve your family.

Care philosophy

Caring for parents before, during and after birth is so important. You’ve gone through enormous changes, and you deserve someone to hold your hand through it. I love cooking, light cleaning (laundry, dishes, tidying up, etc) and supporting overnight. Sleep is essential for our health, let me help you get the rest you deserve, and wake up to all the tasks you need done just the way you want it.

Bleu is in a fun phase of life that includes wedding planning, meal prepping, and preparing to start her own journey to motherhood. She believes that home is where the heart is, and owns a plethora of bathrobes. Bleu loves reading, making coffee, cooking, film photography, and her cat! She spends all of her non-doula time being a homemaker, just like her grandmother. Bleu was raised in a community that valued motherhood, homemaking, and supporting new parents. Being brought up by her grandmother led her in becoming a caregiver early on in life, anything her grandmother did to nurture, she turned around and provided the same care. She and her grandmother bond now over how much things like car seat standards have progressed, the difference in cloth diapers, and they make sure to call each other daily. She really values teaching parents how to care for their new addition to the family, and will show up for you in a variety of ways. Some of her favorite teaching moments have been introducing a bottle/how to pace feed, teaching how to baby wear, and giving resources on local movement classes.

Care philosophy

Bleu is a strong advocate for trauma informed care, and applies those principles to all of her work. Bleu is equipped with knowledge on transitioning home from nicu stays, supporting families with neurodivergent children, and supporting families with multiples. Bleu believes that every parent deserves the confidence that they are taking care of their newborn (or big kids) in the way that is best.

It can be a scary and nerve wracking experience having someone you don’t know very well taking care of your baby but honestly there was not a moment that I worried when Emily was with my baby. She is kind, thoughtful, gentle and warm and I really believe that babies can sense this about her. Our daughter was always so happy and calm with Emily. I truly cannot say enough good things about Emily and if you hire her, I guarantee you will not be disappointed- Emily and her support during the postpartum period truly is an investment in your baby, your family and your much needed sleep. My wife and I highly recommend Emily as a postpartum professional.

I've been a nanny for ten years now, and along the way I fell in love with working in the homes of families, and connecting with them and learning how to best support them. Becoming a postpartum doula felt like a really natural next step, and after becoming certified and working with families in a new way, I truly believe I have found my passion. I'm currently transitioning out of nannying and into doula work, but later on in 2023 I will have more open availability as a doula. I enjoy working with families who need extra rest, or families who are looking for guidance and reassurance when it comes to soothing, breastfeeding, bathing etc. I also love helping out with household duties or simply being an unbiased listener. I also work with families who's particular struggle lies with sleep and I'm trained to help families navigate infant sleep concerns. I like to look at the family as a whole to help get everyone as much sleep as possible.

Care philosophy

I truly believe that the families I work with are capable of amazing things, and just may need a bit of help along the way. I love to help families learn to trust their instincts and find their power as parents. Sometimes that means helping them get some well-deserved rest, and sometimes that means helping with gentle guidance through techniques that will help boost their parenting confidence.

Jordan entered the fray of our family in the early days of my postpartum period with our first child – a time when literally everything felt like a struggle. I was averaging about 4 hours of sleep a night and nursing was fraught with concerns around my baby’s slow weight gain. From the moment Jordan walked into our home, I was struck by her calm, confident, and compassionate demeanor. She was someone I could sit with as I breastfed my son and share my feelings about motherhood without reservation, and Jordan knew just what to say, or not say, to provide the emotional support I needed. She fit perfectly into our homelife, intuiting whether we needed support or privacy at a given moment.

In addition to the support she provided directly to me as a new mother, Jordan also cared for my son brilliantly. She could soothe him like a champion and was endlessly patient and nurturing toward him. I could watch Jordan with my son and feel completely at peace with the care she provided him.

Jordan is a truly special person that I feel so lucky to have had providing me and my family with postpartum support. She personifies kindness, wisdom, calmness, and compassion. I will forever be grateful to her for all she did for me and my family!

I believe our bodies instinctively know how to handle pregnancy, labor, and birth. During this time, we should learn to love and respect this amazing process. I believe that pregnancy and birth are natural processes in a woman’s life. This journey should not be feared. I believe that labor and birth is a beautiful and sacred life-changing events. As your doula, I have the honor to support you throughout this journey, encourage you and remind you of your strength and power, and hold space for you. I believe in a woman’s confidence and ability to birth. I also believe that this confidence can be shattered by those that are in her circle. Those around her can either influence it for the better or hinder it if they do not trust the process. I believe there are many ways to birth, and there is no wrong way to birth! You must find what is right for you. I believe a woman should feel comfortable and safe during her labor and birth. She should feel supported. As your doula, I will support your choice whether it is to labor at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center. I will honor and respect your family beliefs, preferences, communication styles, and comfort techniques, this allows me to tailor my support to fit your individual needs and desires. I believe every woman should be an active participant in her labor and birth experience. I believe in informed consent- giving you evidence and information about the risks and benefits of every procedure so that you can make the best decision for yourself and your baby. As your doula, I will help you gather the knowledge and resources to be better informed throughout your journey to conceive, and your pregnancy and childbirth. I will encourage you and I will remind you of your goals and values. It is my hope and dreams that you feel supported throughout your pregnancy, childbirth & beyond.

Care philosophy

I aim to provide compassionate support and knowledge to growing families, contribute to positive birthing experiences, and respect & honor the rights of the birthing person.

Starting off as a nursing student then transitioning into birth work as a midwifery assistant, I quickly fell in love with doula care. I am now a birth and postpartum doula and loving every second. Families can expect to have my full support as they navigate sleepless nights, cluster feeding, and any hurdles that come their way in the first few weeks of motherhood.

Care philosophy

I support families by providing emotional, informational, and physical support as they become parents for the first time. It is my greatest joy to be a new mommy mentor and link arms with new parents as they discover their parenting styles, grow, and heal in the fourth trimester.

My goal is to provide care and love to everyone that needs it during this special time. I would love to, eventually, start a non-profit offering birth and postpartum care to support many family situations, and support children being born in a stress-free environment, with love and good health.

Care philosophy

My care philosophy is to provide support for all families. I understand the many birth and postpartum options available and support the use of them all. If you want a natural birth or medicated birth, to breastfeed or formula feed, are a christian female or a unicorn birther, a person living with disabilities, struggling through a difficult pregnancy or postpartum experience - I support you.

Night Nanny Services: FAQs

A night nanny is a trained professional that specializes in newborn care. They are known as “night nannies” because they arrive at night and offer their nannying services until the morning.

Night nannies are also known as newborn care specialists, which is often abbreviated as “NCS.” A night nanny usually works with new parents for 8-12 weeks after the baby is born. Night nannies are often also called “night nurses.”

It can be incredibly exhausting to sleep train new babies, and a night nanny is expected to sleep train babies. Night nannies can also educate and inform new parents on the best way to feed, bathe, sleep train, and swaddle their children. They are generally available for 8-12 hours during the night and provide nanny services during this time.

Many professional parents often hire overnight nannies in Lake Oswego, OR because they may work long hours. It might be extremely difficult for these parents to get enough sleep to remain productive, and a night nanny can help them begin sleeping properly. Meela can help you connect with a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR today.

To find a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR, most parents recommend creating a job post on Meela and having uniquely qualified night nannies near you (in your budget) reach out to you through the Meela app.

The cost of a night nanny can vary based on a variety of factors, including their experience, their services, and their skills or specializations. Overall, the average cost of a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR is $25-40 per hour.

It should be noted that the price of a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR will likely increase if the night nanny is contracted to deal with twins or multiple children. Also, a night nanny’s cost may depend on their level of education, the needs of the newborn, or their exact responsibilities for specific clients.

There are some situations in which your insurance company will help you cover the costs of childcare, and this can obviously help those parents that want their baby’s needs met but might not be as financially secure. Unfortunately, a night nanny usually isn’t covered by insurance.

However, there are some cases where a night nanny is covered by insurance. For example, if your child health issues, parents may want to check to see whether their night nanny costs can be covered by their insurance company since their role is more directly related to your child’s health.

There are many situations in which parents might consider a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR. First, both parents might be working long hours, which means that neither of them have the time to actually bathe/feed/swaddle the child when necessary. Some parents might already rely on friends and family, but realize that they require more help when it comes to their children.

A night nanny is also often most necessary in situations where there are twins or triplets. These parents simply may need extra help to care for these children night after night, and night nannies can help take over some of the workload. For first-time parents, for example, having to care for multiple children for the first time can be overwhelming and stressful. Other parents might also be dealing with mental health issues or postpartum depression.

A night nanny is expected to care for the baby as the parent would if they were awake. Night nannies wash baby bottles, prepare feeds, sterilize pump equipment, and more. Overnight nannies also bathe, feed, diaper, and swaddle the baby, as well. A night nanny can also provide care in situations where the mother might be recovering from a C-section, for example.

In many cases, the process is simple: a parent often hands off their baby to their night nanny so that they can get some much-needed sleep. The night nanny remains at the household until the parent(s) wake up, and then night nannies leave once the parents can take over child care duties.

Every family’s needs are different, but night nannies are expected to burp the baby, bathe the baby, prepare formula, and provide other nanny duties. In summary, overnight nannies in Lake Oswego, OR are expected to keep the baby fed, comfortable, clean, rested, and dry.

However, night nannies are not expected to complete household chores that are unrelated to baby care. It’s also important to note that a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR will obviously need to get their rest, as well – so bedding must be provided. A night nanny typically sleeps once the baby is already resting and their nanny chores are complete.

A night nanny can often help parents with emotional support or provide extra help for a sick child. An overnight nanny in Lake Oswego, OR can help reduce stress and anxiety for many new parents who might have issues with their work-life balance.

One of the most obvious differentiators in the world of night nannies in Lake Oswego, OR is the fact that a night nanny might have specific experience with children of a specific age. Some night nannies might have certifications such as nursing certifications or sleep certifications. Many night nannies are often involved for the first six weeks of childbirth, and some of them remain with parents for months.

For example, some night nannies might have specialized skills for children aged 1-2, while others may be more experienced with children aged 3-4. Obviously, the responsibilities of these night nannies in Lake Oswego, OR differ depending on the age of the children that they are supervising.

Some night nannies might be CPR-certified or first-aid certified, which can give more peace of mind to parents who might be concerned about potential sleep or breathing issues. Other overnight nannies might specialize in newborns that have colic or reflux issues, as well.

There are some overnight nannies in Lake Oswego, OR that might be open to caring for your child while you are traveling out of town, while other nannies might not be available for that amount of time. There is no certification required to become a night nanny in Lake Oswego, OR. However, some night nannies choose to become newborn care specialists, and undergo NCS training.

There are some families that try to compare the concept of a “night nanny” to an “overnight babysitter.” The main difference here involves the level of commitment that a night nanny has to a newborn, versus a babysitter that may only have to provide minimal care to a newborn or child.

A babysitter is often not responsible for actually creating/fixing meals for newborns, washing their baby bottles, or doing their laundry. While a babysitter might monitor a newborn or make sure that they are safe – a nanny might spend time soothing a newborn, swaddling them, or taking care of their meals and clothes. A nanny has more obligations than a babysitter, and are considered more of an “extension” of the parents.
