Pregnancy started the largest transformation for me. I made a decision to be intentional. Intentional about how my kids would enter this world and how I would raise them every day after that. I had two unmedicated home births in which incredible midwifes and my husband supported me. Neither were that magical water birth I dreamt of but both were incredibly powerful. You can read about the birth of Cleo (my first, 57 hour labor) and the birth of Nova (my second, the power of affirmations). I’ve been breastfeeding since 2017 continuously, breastfed through my second pregnancy. and tandem fed. While I went in thinking we’d breastfeed for 12 month, the connection and support I had with my girls during breastfeeding (and the ease after those painful first weeks) made me continue on and learn all about the benefits of extended breastfeeding. I am a certified doula, certified birth education, and lactation mentor. However, the passion I have for birth work goes much further than any one certification could show. I geek out over this stuff and am the odd dinner guest who talks about the magic and energy of women especially during this transformative period of motherhood.

Care philosophy

We believe birth should be grounded, supported, and rooted. Grounded in intuition and trust in your own body. Supported emotionally and physically by those whom you trust into your birth circle. Rooted in knowledge from the women that came before you for centuries and the sciences that has shed light onto whats happening under the surface.

From the very beginning of my pregnancy and through the postpartum period, Phoebe’s presence was invaluable. She was not just a doula; she became a dependable friend who stood by my side through every step of my journey.

Phoebe’s ability to listen attentively and empathize with my experiences made her an invaluable support system. During moments of uncertainty and challenges, she provided a compassionate and empathetic ear, helping me calm my nerves when I needed it most.

Her knowledge in prenatal and postpartum care was evident in every interaction. Phoebe’s insights and advice helped me make well-informed decisions for both myself and my baby when I was most vulnerable.

I can’t recommend Phoebe enough to anyone embarking on their own journey of pregnancy and childbirth. Her knowledge, genuine caring nature, and unwavering dedication make her the perfect doula for this significant chapter in your life. With Phoebe by your side, you’ll experience invaluable support!

My intention is always to provide holistic, compassionate, loving and comforting emotional and mental support that empowers every birthing person, family, or individual experiencing a reproductive event. When my son was born, I had an inconvenient realization - that although I had spent hours and hours researching during my pregnancy, I still didn’t quite understand how birth and newborn care worked. Like most new parents and families, I was overwhelmed and unsure. Often, this is how many of us feel throughout our reproductive journeys. I am a full-spectrum doula which means I support you throughout the various paths in your reproductive life - abortion, miscarriage, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I strive to create a calm and understanding environment for you to learn, connect with yourself, and have the most positive experience possible. Outside of being a full-spectrum doula, I am also in the licensure process to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. That means your mental health throughout your support process is always front and center. My mission is to support your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health no matter where you are in your experience. Your holistic health is imperative to having a positive experience. I love pouring into others and supporting people on their journeys to nurturing themselves. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to our birthing and reproductive goals. Let’s discover together what you dream for your experience and how you feel you are best supported - let’s find the nurturing you deserve!

Care philosophy

I believe our bodies should be strongly protected. and ever more our voices pertaining to our bodies. Our wellness, safety, and healthcare should be optimized. We should be supported and nurtured as we go through our journeys with our bodies. My role as your doula is to help you explore your options, advocate for your needs and intentions, and hold your hand through any stage of your journey.

I have always had a passion for women's health and wellness well before finding my calling in birthwork. I received my Bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology, which has allowed me to gain the knowledge and understanding of the many functions of the human anatomy. I'm a licensed massage therapist, which allows me to intuitively connect with my clients to relieve any muscle tension or aches and pains throughout pregnancy and during labor. I practice mindfulness which allows me to provide a very calm and peaceful environment for my clients to truly connect to the experience. Overall my life's trajectory has provided a variety of expertise that not only has helped me along my personal journey but has assisted many women whether that is through herbalism, wellness, massage therapy or through my experience as a birth worker. The passion I have for this work is undeniable! I provide birth and post-partum support along with prenatal massage depending on which package you choose. I'm so excited to work with you!

Care philosophy

I believe in an empowering birth experience which entails giving birth with confidence. knowledge and support. Support does not begin solely in labor and delivery, but well before. I do not take on a lot of clients at a time because I believe in being present with my clients as they approach their new life into parenthood. Building trust and a lasting relationship with my clients is important.

As a first time mom, I was so overwhelmed with all things. I knew that I wanted to have a team close to me that had my best interest at heart and made sure my baby and I were okay. In our first meeting with Yashnika, she made us feel so safe and heard. She answered all of my questions, never made me feel alone, and offered so many resources to make me comfortable. The birthing process can be so scary but with Yashnika by my side I really felt like I could conquer the world. I had such a wonderful pregnancy and delivery and it was all because of Yashnika. She advocated for me when I felt I wasn’t being listened to and made sure to stick by me through the entire process. I would not have had such a wonderful experience if it was not for her and I am eternally grateful!

I had been doing the doula work LONG before I even knew what a doula was. I just knew that I loved the process of bringing forth life and assisting mothers during the process. My doula life was birth out of my friends allowing me to be present for them. Learning how to best serve them in pregnancy, I would research tips on breathing, non-medical pain management, breastfeeding, and more. To make sure that every mother I support feels like the strong birthing woman she was born to be.

Care philosophy

As a doula, I help with informational, physical, and emotional support throughout your pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. Please send me a message for more information on my care philosophy

Thank you so much for considering Snugs and Kisses to support you and your newborn during this wonderful time! As a wife to an amazingly supportive husband and a mother to one awesome little guy, I am honored to be able to provide moms with a service that is very important but often neglected. My background as an infant teacher Assistant, nanny (including night nanny) and Newborn/Maternal Certified Nursing Assistant led me to my becoming a postpartum doula and certified lacation counselor. I can’t say thank you enough. I decided to make Snugs and Kisses a part of my post partum journey before I truly knew how much I needed them. Kimberly provided an extra bit of peace in the early stages of my first experience with motherhood. She was attentive to my concerns and quick to find answers to questions I had regarding breast feeding.

If it weren’t for Sungs and Kisses I might not have continued with breastfeeding. I can say I gained confidence in the process as well as how to advocate for myself regarding my baby’s ability to latch properly.

I appreciate that Kimberly kept an open line of communication during my overnight support. From the moment of our first consultation to her last day with us, Kimberly was intentional about including my husband in the process. She remained professional while feeling like a family friend ready to assist and educate. I would encourage anyone looking for a postpartum doula to reach out to Kimberly.

The goal is to support new and expecting moms during the prenatal and postpartum journey. Many moms miss out on amazing opportunities to bond and connect with their baby because they aren't educated and informed about important breastfeeding feeding and infant care practices, or they are so consumed with other elements of motherhood they aren't able to fully embrace the bonding experience.   I not only partner with mom but I also work with the entire family to ensure baby is getting the most nutritional value from human milk. After working together to create a plan specifically for your family, you'll feel more confident and empowered to breastfeed for as long as you'd like. If you decide nursing is not right for you, that's okay too. We can explore alternatives to keep both you and baby happy and healthy.

Care philosophy

Having access to accurate and current information is super important, and it can make all the difference in the world when it comes to raising a happy and healthy baby. The more you know about breastfeeding, childbirth, and the postpartum journey the more confident you and your family will feel about decision making.   The pregnancy and postpartum stage should be about bonding and healing.

My primary role is a wife and stay at home mommy, but I take a limited number of clients in the south DFW area. How I started my doula career is actually after my first birth (a loss). I had an unmedicated birth, and felt empowered by the strength of my body (even in the midst of such a difficult season). I began my certification (Doulaversity) soon after and finished it along with my first, pre-certification births shortly before my third birth (second live birth). I started taking clients as a certified doula in August of 2022, and I have loved it! Doula-ing brings me such joy and life. Personally, I have experienced a stillbirth, a hospital birth with an OBGYN, a home birth transfer from a CPM to CNMs in-hospital, and as a high risk mama due to a genetic disorder, I understand how it can feel to have limited birth options. As a result, I am passionate about supporting all births and providing resources for an empowered birth in and out of hospital. I’ve seen the beauty of midwifery and honor and love our local midwives. I also see the benefits and life-saving measures offered in hospitals. I love helping moms navigate which place is suitable for their birth type and create a birth plan that brings them confidence and understanding. I am also certifying as a childbirth educator because I am so passionate about learning and teaching evidence-based birth practices and want to share that love with my clients and community.

Care philosophy

I believe that women deserve support and they deserve to understand the benefits and risks of “normal” birthing practices and interventions that happen in hospitals as well as the benefits of physiological birth. Women deserve access to community resources and services regardless of location. Women need more than just prenatal care; postpartum is tough! I am also a Christ-follower!

I gave birth to my first child with my dear friend and doula beside me and husband next to me. My child was born in South Korea and was transferred to NICU. My doula did not leave my side until my husband returned to me. From that moment on, I wanted to support women through the ups and downs of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I attended my first birth as a friend in 2018 to a Vietnamese woman living in Korea. I didn't plan on the profession but it definitely found me. That first birth sparked a fire in my heart that continues to grow. My first three years I supported students, expats and immigrants in South Korea. I served women no matter their background. I desire for all women of any background to receive continuous labor support and at-home postpartum care. I returned to the US in 2020, moved to Dallas and, now, continue to support women with a new passion. I am a certified birth doula with Childbirth International. I am also a big supporter of lactation. I feel that initial breastfeeding shortly after birth and the following couple weeks is a crucial part of my support. I have breastfeed my two children 2 years each and love to help mother's reach their personal breastfeeding goals. I find that most people are not familiar with childbirth, but with the help of doula, mothers and partners feel comfortable and confident after meeting to prepare for their own childbirth. Continuous labor support helps a mother feel calm and at peace knowing that at least one person will not change shifts, but stay by her side continuously. This means from on the phone during early labor, to meeting at the home also during labor, to transitioning to the location of the birth, laboring in active labor, and two hours after birth. I also return to visit in-home after birth for breastfeeding and practical support. With a doula, there is increased oxytocin, increased mobility, increased self-esteem, and a decrease in pain and anxiety. Labor support can be many things. It can be PHYSICAL: massage, assisting with water therapy, assisting with eating and drinking, or suggesting a change of positions; EMOTIONAL: encouragement, affirming the mother, or debriefing the birth; PRACTICAL: showing the partner how to support the mother, creating a calming environment, lower the lights, turning on music, helping the parents with whatever they need; INFORMATIONAL: helping find evidenced-based information, suggesting techniques; SUPPORTING the PARTNER: practically reminding him to eat, drink and sleep, or practically showing him how to support the mother; ADVOCACY: encouraging parents to ask questions in prenatal, birth and postpartum, supporting their decisions, amplifying their voices, and asking the mother what she wants. I LOVE supporting the whole family, but the primary vehicle is the mother. I take calls, texts, and emails during my awake hours from the time you sign on as client until 6 weeks postpartum. And available at all times from 38 weeks until the birth. I go the extra mile to make sure mothers are emotionally healthy and supported as well as all the education and practical support.

Care philosophy

As a birth doula, my goal is to support and serve you. My desire is to inform, educate and prepare you for your birth, while also listening, caring, and making space to hear your needs, fears and hopes. I desire is to support the entire family (partner, husband, older siblings) as birth is a transforming time for the whole family. I hope that you feel more confident, encouraged and relaxed.

I am Rachel Bruursema, a professionally trained doula and mental health counselor. I support clients and families throughout the perinatal period - from TTC and fertility treatments, through pregnancy, birth, and the first months of parenthood. New to the Dallas area and currently completing certification with DONA International, I am offering a special rate to my next 5 clients. The perinatal period is a season of change, when you open up to love and joy. However, with it can come uncertainty and overwhelm. My goal is to ease the anxiety that often accompanies this period by providing curated, evidence-based information, challenging the perceived judgment of birth and early parenting decisions, and empowering my clients and families to identify and make the choices that best align with their values and unique needs. With the combination of my experience as a counselor, knowledge of mind-body approaches to stress, and comprehensive training in perinatal support, I will help you and your family revel in the good, navigate the challenges, and accept the process. A mother myself, I also draw from personal experiences with pregnancy complications, unmedicated birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum depression. This is one of the most meaningful journeys in life, and I can wait to help you shape that meaning and create the beautiful experience you deserve.

Care philosophy

I support birthing persons and families on all birth journeys with compassionate care and an affirming calm. I bring the values and ethics of professional counseling into my doula work, and feel passionate about the support I can offer in both roles. As a counselor, I help clients heal in a sacred space away from their lives. As a doula, I will help you and baby thrive in the midst of your life.

Amber was absolutely amazing, caring and goes above and beyond. We lost our baby it was very tragic for us, she helped us through it and helped us to adjust. It was nice to have a voice that didn’t seem pressuring around us and she was always willing to pray us through. She was a great person to have for a Doula.

My name is Leah and I am Co-Owner of The Birthing Collaboration. I had a son a little over 3 years ago and as good as the RNs and OBGYN were, the emotional support is what I craved. I was a single mom doing it by myself. The first night home together I cried right along with my son. My mother stayed with me for the first week but then I was on my own left to handle a new baby, school, and soon work. It's hard juggling everything life has to offer and we often forget about ourselves in the process as you doula, I am committed to making sure you get that time rather it be 1 hour or 3.

Care philosophy

I believe in helping the mother and baby as they journey uncharted waters. Ultimately I'm here to be a nonjudgmental ear for the mom and helping her take care of herself so that she can be the best mother that she can be. I was a young mother so I understand the importance of having a doula. I offer Prenatal, Labor, and postpartum Doula services for mothers wanting a doula.

My wife talks about Leah even now (our kid is 1 now). When my wife first approached me about a doula I had no clue what it was. We were skeptical of the price hit I would’ve paid double that. Leah helped us with managing our expectations at the hospital, to educating us on feeding our son. I mean she was there from the 25 weeks we hired her until the end. Even now she still checks in with us and ask us for updates.

My passion for birth and labor support started with our third pregnancy in 2016, our third baby in three years. Our first was an emergency c-section and our second was scheduled. When I found out I was pregnant again I realized how important it was going to be to recover quickly and searched for better support for a vaginal delivery. My labor stories led me to want to support others in their journeys too!

Care philosophy

My mission is to “to serve you on your journey”, before, during, after, and beyond pregnancy, labor, birth and newborn baby! I believe in being there for my clients as much as possible and readily available for questions and support throughout our time together. Because of this I take on a small number of clients per season and would love to make you, your pregnancy and your baby my priority!

I'm Cassie Lewis and my husband and I are from nearby Waxahachie, live in Dallas, and have four spirited (ha!) kids. We lived overseas for awhile after college, and our first was born there. She was three weeks "early", and was born in a hospital with many interventions but not many explanations. No epidural, but yes to pitocin, an enema, an episiotomy, an attempted catheter, and something else in an IV. She was whisked away immediately after birth, and I wasn't able to see her for a few hours. This gives me great compassion for women birthing in their second language. It's not for the faint of heart! My next three were all "late" and born in and around Dallas in birth centers with a midwife. With all four I had vastly different pregnancies, births, postpartums, and breastfeeding experiences. I believe this gives me great insight into any experiences you may have. I also believe this is my motivation behind wanting to become a birth worker. Women should be informed and supported to make their pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding decisions. Your story needs to be yours, and not taken away from you. Your body will know how to grow, birth, and sustain a baby. I believe letting you grow into that is a great gift. StoryBabe is about me wanting to be a calm, consistent, knowledgable presence for you during your third trimester, birth, and fourth trimester. My hope is to build a fun, comfortable, trustworthy relationship with you and your partner to get you the story you want. What this means is taking less clients, but building a deeper relationship with each one. I love the thought of being a trusted part of your story. Contact me so we can get started!

Care philosophy

Doulas are the overlap of emotional, physical, and informational support. I am passionate about providing honest, fun, trustworthy, and compassionate support that makes you feel completely encouraged and prepared. Your birth and postpartum stories will change you for the rest of your life. Having someone there who understands and respects your choices could make all the difference.

Growing up, Tab'itha always knew she wanted to give back to her community but didn't know how. One thing she always gave was support to friends/family during their pregnancies. After 3 cesareans and unfavorable experiences she encountered while pregnant, Tab’itha took a DONA training in March of 2019 and believed she finally found the calling she had unknowingly been searching for. Since then, Tab'itha has supported numerous women by educating, advocating, and servicing them during their pregnancy and labor. Her main focus is reaching out to Black and Hispanic women as there is not much support given due to systematic racism, preconceived thoughts, and inaccurate medical myths. Tab'itha also gives counsel and support services to women going through miscarriages and/or still births as a bereavement doula. Tab'itha is also currently in midwifery school and plans to open up a birthing center right the middle of the very neighborhood she grew up in.

Sharel Bratcher

5 reviews • 75 families supported • 6 years experience

Hi! My name is Sharel (pronounced like Cheryl). I’m 32 with three littles homeschooled by my husband 6,5,3 and I can often be found drinking coffee. I officially started my doula journey during the pandemic of 2020 when I decided to get certified through Still Birth Day, but my passion for birth, child development, and photography came way before, with my love for serving others even before that. I’ve been working in birth work for over 6 years now and currently a student midwife. Before getting married I worked as a personal aid and care giver for a little girl who had cerebral palsy (she was one of quadruplets, I volunteered leading and serving and teaching in the church, I worked with college students and teen moms as well as single moms going to college. I have a degree in Child Development and Art, because I’m a creative at heart as you will see. I received my BA from Texas Woman’s University in Denton Texas in 2013 and I got married in 2014 after working in full time ministry in London and back at TWU with the BSM . Marriage rocked my world but nothing would change my life like having a kid. While pregnant with my first, I studied at the Village Church Institute (under southern seminary) and I became a lay counselor through our churches biblical counseling program. Along side serving in our church I continued to have babies and even lose some. I served as our Children’s child care coordinator all the while slowly growing back up my photography business. After photographing my first birth I learned more about midwifery and doulas and thinking I knew it all until the birth of my first humbled me. If it wasn’t for the birth assistant who was also a doula stepping in, my birth experience would have been much worse, but I’ll spare you the details. Since then, my passion to support moms in labor grew! Then as I struggled with breastfeeding and postpartum depression and anxiety, I just knew I wasn’t alone. I learned, I grew, I rocked two beautiful fast water births with my husband and doula by my side and successfully breastfeed all my babies through lip and tongues ties past a year old. All that to say if I can do it, so can you and I would find so much joy in serving you to meet your family and mommy goals all while capturing it in photos for you to keep forever to remember how powerful you are and how far you have come. It’s an honor to serve and would love to serve you. I serve each family as individuals. I take time to get to know you and your needs and preferences, and together we work together to have the best birth experience you can have no matter the circumstances.

Care philosophy

I believe that all parents and babies no matter their story are made in the image of God. So I live to serve just as each person is the image bearer of the most high. No matter race, religious belief, hospital or at home, medicated or unmedicated etc. I strive to help the parent(s) be confident in their conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and even through bereavement and breastfeeding.

A postpartum doula in Irving, TX is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Irving, TX offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Irving, TX can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Irving, TX. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Irving, TX, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Irving, TX is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Irving, TX: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
