I embarked on this beautiful journey in 2021 when I assisted a mama during her freebirth (the practice of women birthing their baby without medical or midwifery assistance.) Witnessing the police being called on her twice and other people trying to object to her BIRTH RIGHTS, I decided to become a certified Doula (a professional labor assistant who provides physical and emotional support to you and your partner during pregnancy) so that I may advocate for all birthing people and their partners. I provide home visits where I offer information about your birth and birth rights. I teach you and your spouse/ partner birthing techniques + anything else you might ask. I connect you to resources outside of my scope including but not limited to (chiropractic support, massage therapist, general therapist and more!) I am present during your birth to offer physical support and guidance. I advocate for you but I do not make decisions. As the parent, YOU make the final decisions as it is YOUR BIRTH RIGHT! I offer immediate postpartum assistance and lactation support as well as information + guidance for newborn care.

Care philosophy

prioritizing each birthing person’s comfort and well-being during childbirth by creating a calming environment, Offering emotional support, eliminating fears, helping you take charge of your birthing experience and advocating for your birth wishes.

Alexandra knew about my past birthing experience and how it was taken from me, she came for my second child and made everything so peaceful. She knew everything I wanted and spoke up for me when I couldn’t, thanks to her I now know the rights I have as a patient. She allowed me to finally have the birthing experience I always dreamed of and she’ll be apart of my life forever because of it! I’ve recommended her to every person I know and she’ll be there for me whenever I have any more kids. She IS the best doula ever and we love her!,

I can’t say thank you enough. I decided to make Snugs and Kisses a part of my post partum journey before I truly knew how much I needed them. Kimberly provided an extra bit of peace in the early stages of my first experience with motherhood. She was attentive to my concerns and quick to find answers to questions I had regarding breast feeding.

If it weren’t for Sungs and Kisses I might not have continued with breastfeeding. I can say I gained confidence in the process as well as how to advocate for myself regarding my baby’s ability to latch properly.

I appreciate that Kimberly kept an open line of communication during my overnight support. From the moment of our first consultation to her last day with us, Kimberly was intentional about including my husband in the process. She remained professional while feeling like a family friend ready to assist and educate. I would encourage anyone looking for a postpartum doula to reach out to Kimberly.

The goal is to support new and expecting moms during the prenatal and postpartum journey. Many moms miss out on amazing opportunities to bond and connect with their baby because they aren't educated and informed about important breastfeeding feeding and infant care practices, or they are so consumed with other elements of motherhood they aren't able to fully embrace the bonding experience.   I not only partner with mom but I also work with the entire family to ensure baby is getting the most nutritional value from human milk. After working together to create a plan specifically for your family, you'll feel more confident and empowered to breastfeed for as long as you'd like. If you decide nursing is not right for you, that's okay too. We can explore alternatives to keep both you and baby happy and healthy.

Care philosophy

Having access to accurate and current information is super important, and it can make all the difference in the world when it comes to raising a happy and healthy baby. The more you know about breastfeeding, childbirth, and the postpartum journey the more confident you and your family will feel about decision making.   The pregnancy and postpartum stage should be about bonding and healing.

I gave birth to my first child with my dear friend and doula beside me and husband next to me. My child was born in South Korea and was transferred to NICU. My doula did not leave my side until my husband returned to me. From that moment on, I wanted to support women through the ups and downs of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I attended my first birth as a friend in 2018 to a Vietnamese woman living in Korea. I didn't plan on the profession but it definitely found me. That first birth sparked a fire in my heart that continues to grow. My first three years I supported students, expats and immigrants in South Korea. I served women no matter their background. I desire for all women of any background to receive continuous labor support and at-home postpartum care. I returned to the US in 2020, moved to Dallas and, now, continue to support women with a new passion. I am a certified birth doula with Childbirth International. I am also a big supporter of lactation. I feel that initial breastfeeding shortly after birth and the following couple weeks is a crucial part of my support. I have breastfeed my two children 2 years each and love to help mother's reach their personal breastfeeding goals. I find that most people are not familiar with childbirth, but with the help of doula, mothers and partners feel comfortable and confident after meeting to prepare for their own childbirth. Continuous labor support helps a mother feel calm and at peace knowing that at least one person will not change shifts, but stay by her side continuously. This means from on the phone during early labor, to meeting at the home also during labor, to transitioning to the location of the birth, laboring in active labor, and two hours after birth. I also return to visit in-home after birth for breastfeeding and practical support. With a doula, there is increased oxytocin, increased mobility, increased self-esteem, and a decrease in pain and anxiety. Labor support can be many things. It can be PHYSICAL: massage, assisting with water therapy, assisting with eating and drinking, or suggesting a change of positions; EMOTIONAL: encouragement, affirming the mother, or debriefing the birth; PRACTICAL: showing the partner how to support the mother, creating a calming environment, lower the lights, turning on music, helping the parents with whatever they need; INFORMATIONAL: helping find evidenced-based information, suggesting techniques; SUPPORTING the PARTNER: practically reminding him to eat, drink and sleep, or practically showing him how to support the mother; ADVOCACY: encouraging parents to ask questions in prenatal, birth and postpartum, supporting their decisions, amplifying their voices, and asking the mother what she wants. I LOVE supporting the whole family, but the primary vehicle is the mother. I take calls, texts, and emails during my awake hours from the time you sign on as client until 6 weeks postpartum. And available at all times from 38 weeks until the birth. I go the extra mile to make sure mothers are emotionally healthy and supported as well as all the education and practical support.

Care philosophy

As a birth doula, my goal is to support and serve you. My desire is to inform, educate and prepare you for your birth, while also listening, caring, and making space to hear your needs, fears and hopes. I desire is to support the entire family (partner, husband, older siblings) as birth is a transforming time for the whole family. I hope that you feel more confident, encouraged and relaxed.

I'm Cassie Lewis and my husband and I are from nearby Waxahachie, live in Dallas, and have four spirited (ha!) kids. We lived overseas for awhile after college, and our first was born there. She was three weeks "early", and was born in a hospital with many interventions but not many explanations. No epidural, but yes to pitocin, an enema, an episiotomy, an attempted catheter, and something else in an IV. She was whisked away immediately after birth, and I wasn't able to see her for a few hours. This gives me great compassion for women birthing in their second language. It's not for the faint of heart! My next three were all "late" and born in and around Dallas in birth centers with a midwife. With all four I had vastly different pregnancies, births, postpartums, and breastfeeding experiences. I believe this gives me great insight into any experiences you may have. I also believe this is my motivation behind wanting to become a birth worker. Women should be informed and supported to make their pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding decisions. Your story needs to be yours, and not taken away from you. Your body will know how to grow, birth, and sustain a baby. I believe letting you grow into that is a great gift. StoryBabe is about me wanting to be a calm, consistent, knowledgable presence for you during your third trimester, birth, and fourth trimester. My hope is to build a fun, comfortable, trustworthy relationship with you and your partner to get you the story you want. What this means is taking less clients, but building a deeper relationship with each one. I love the thought of being a trusted part of your story. Contact me so we can get started!

Care philosophy

Doulas are the overlap of emotional, physical, and informational support. I am passionate about providing honest, fun, trustworthy, and compassionate support that makes you feel completely encouraged and prepared. Your birth and postpartum stories will change you for the rest of your life. Having someone there who understands and respects your choices could make all the difference.

Hi! My name is Sharel (pronounced like Cheryl). I’m 32 with three littles homeschooled by my husband 6,5,3 and I can often be found drinking coffee. I officially started my doula journey during the pandemic of 2020 when I decided to get certified through Still Birth Day, but my passion for birth, child development, and photography came way before, with my love for serving others even before that. I’ve been working in birth work for over 6 years now and currently a student midwife. Before getting married I worked as a personal aid and care giver for a little girl who had cerebral palsy (she was one of quadruplets, I volunteered leading and serving and teaching in the church, I worked with college students and teen moms as well as single moms going to college. I have a degree in Child Development and Art, because I’m a creative at heart as you will see. I received my BA from Texas Woman’s University in Denton Texas in 2013 and I got married in 2014 after working in full time ministry in London and back at TWU with the BSM . Marriage rocked my world but nothing would change my life like having a kid. While pregnant with my first, I studied at the Village Church Institute (under southern seminary) and I became a lay counselor through our churches biblical counseling program. Along side serving in our church I continued to have babies and even lose some. I served as our Children’s child care coordinator all the while slowly growing back up my photography business. After photographing my first birth I learned more about midwifery and doulas and thinking I knew it all until the birth of my first humbled me. If it wasn’t for the birth assistant who was also a doula stepping in, my birth experience would have been much worse, but I’ll spare you the details. Since then, my passion to support moms in labor grew! Then as I struggled with breastfeeding and postpartum depression and anxiety, I just knew I wasn’t alone. I learned, I grew, I rocked two beautiful fast water births with my husband and doula by my side and successfully breastfeed all my babies through lip and tongues ties past a year old. All that to say if I can do it, so can you and I would find so much joy in serving you to meet your family and mommy goals all while capturing it in photos for you to keep forever to remember how powerful you are and how far you have come. It’s an honor to serve and would love to serve you. I serve each family as individuals. I take time to get to know you and your needs and preferences, and together we work together to have the best birth experience you can have no matter the circumstances.

Care philosophy

I believe that all parents and babies no matter their story are made in the image of God. So I live to serve just as each person is the image bearer of the most high. No matter race, religious belief, hospital or at home, medicated or unmedicated etc. I strive to help the parent(s) be confident in their conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and even through bereavement and breastfeeding.

I am a registered nurse (2008), a certified lactation counselor (2015) & a certified doula (2019 - birth, postpartum, & bereavement), and I occasionally assist a midwife at out of hospital births. I have a network of birthworkers to call on for back-up or assisting with supporting families. I offer self-paced education for birth & breastfeeding and many packages come with unlimited messaging support for several months. RutledgeFamilyHolistic.godaddysites.com or JessicaRutledgeBirth.com

For my first birth, my goal was a more natural delivery in a hospital and I knew it would be important for me to have a doula. My husband and I had two meetings with Lama before my due date and went over my birth plan and preferences in great detail. Long story short, I found out the week before my due date that the hospital changed policies and wouldn’t allow doulas…

Despite the major change in plans, Lama came to my house to help me through early stages of labor and coach my husband on counter pressure. Once at the hospital, she offered vital virtual support throughout my labor.

What I also found to be very helpful was her support postpartum. Lama has been a great resource for self-care, healing, and breastfeeding – answering my (many) texts and questions day or night.

I am so grateful for Lama and her passion for birth!

My work as a doula began in the 90s when I supported my best friend during her birth. I trained as a birth doula in 2000 and shadowed a group of doulas for about a year. In addition, I spent 10 years working as a postpartum doula and newborn/infant care specialist. I chose not to certify with a larger doula agency as I did not want the agency governing my work. In 2014, I completed training as a certified medical assistant. Then went on to work for a chiropractor and a pediatrician for 2 years. I also spent a few years working with children and families experiencing hardships, while continuing to serve my doula clients. I have a love for learning and have continued my education becoming certified in my doula work and being trained in a variety of areas. These areas include baby-led weaning, safe sleep practices, car seat safety, and lactation.

Care philosophy

I support families during their journey no matter what it may look like. My clients have a VIP experience. There is a time and a place for modern medicine. However, naturalistic and wholistic healing is where I gravitate when coaching families through their journey. Every family needs to be supported in having the birth they choose, YOUR birth, YOUR way!

I cannot articulate into words the admiration and love I have for Kesha. She has so much love in her heart for the Lord, and that love shines through in all things she does. Her clients could not be in better hands, as Kesha supports and “mothers the mother” like no other doula I’ve had the privilege of working with. Over the years, Kesha has become a cherished friend – you can’t help but love her. Kesha has also proven to be an exemplary doula throughout the years and her skills are unparalleled, so much so that Kesha is now our lead doula trainer for The Elite Doula & Co Training Academy. I’d honestly be lost without her! 100 stars!!!

I believe that birth work is something that I have been called to do. Through the use of my training, teachings, and life experiences. I set out to empower women to find answers and understanding within themselves, their bodies, and trusted informational resources. My passion for the safe guarding of women's perinatal experience has pushed me to become a member of the National Black Doula Association & DONA Internationally certified birth doula. DONA's belief is that every mother should have a doula, no matter financial circumstance, birth preferences, or background. I value and cherish our partnership and each birth experience that I am blessed to be apart of and hold the care of you and your baby as my highest priority. I will be available for your weird questions, concerns, myth buster needs, but mostly to surround you in support, whatever that may look or feel like. I am open minded and welcome any new research or interesting findings that you may bring to me and I will be honest and upfront if there are things that I do not yet know. With that said I will always follow up with you once I have done my due diligence to find credible sources for any information you may need.

Care philosophy

They say "it takes a village to raise a child" and that's also incredibly true for bringing a new baby earthside. As your doula I work alongside your family and healthcare provider, to become the village you need during this sacred transitional period. As your family prepares for the delivery of your child & your healthcare provider prepares to care for you and & your baby's health, I help prepare

Lactation Consultant: FAQs

A certified lactation consultant is a professional that helps parents address and solve their breastfeeding problems. Many new parents believe that breastfeeding is easy, only to find more obstacles than anticipated. 92% of parents say they are having problems with breastfeeding their new baby within only 3 days.

Nursing doesn’t always come naturally.

Breastfeeding can be overwhelming and all-consuming. A lactation consultant in Grand Prairie, TX can identify issues such as low milk supply, latching problems, or nipple engorgement. They also offer advice and techniques to help parents understand existing issues, improve how they read their baby’s cues, and feel empowered about breastfeeding despite existing social norms.

Every parent’s journey is unique, and there might be specific challenges or obstacles in your particular situation. The ultimate goal of a lactation consultant is to support parents who choose to breastfeed their children. A lactation consultant in Grand Prairie, TX can often save parents time and energy, and also give them some peace of mind.

Many mothers also face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace or lack the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed correctly. A lactation consultant in Grand Prairie, TX can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, and solve latching, positioning, and scheduling issues.

Here are some factors to consider regarding insurance and your lactation consultant cost:

  • Your insurance provider

Meela’s network of lactations specialists in Grand Prairie, TX offer both in-home lactation support sessions or virtual lactation support sessions. Both types of sessions typically last between 1 and 3 hours. In your sessions, your lactation specialist will spend time understanding the issues you are facing and work with you and your baby to diagnose the issues have and also provide specific guidance and hands-on practice and exercises.

Lactation consultants help parents understand the best way to comfortably breastfeed their baby and help them navigate breastfeeding social norms. They can also help reduce stress and anxiety about breastfeeding, or help with specific challenges (such as breastfeeding twins, for example). Other parents might just want emotional support that doesn’t currently exist within their family, workplace, or network or friends.

Certified lactation consultants can also help with specialized issues that may arise with premature children or sick children. A parent may not have thought about breastfeeding help until they notice that their baby isn’t gaining weight properly, and finally realize that they might need some support and knowledge before continuing to breastfeed. On the other hand, some parents might prepare with a lactation consultant months before the baby is born.

Whether you are planning ahead or are thinking about a lactation now that you are having breastfeeding issues or concerns, a lactation consultant can be incredibly helpful and useful for parents.

On the other hand, a certified lactation consultant in Grand Prairie, TX has undergone a specific amount of clinical training hours, which is not a requirement to become a lactation counselor. These lactation consultants are certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants, as well. A lactation consultant typically has a bachelor’s degree in a health field and has undergone 90 hours of training and has somewhere between 300 and 1,000 hours of experience with parents.

Some parents might be anxious about breastfeeding in public or feel like they want access to a breastfeeding expert to help both inform and support them. A lactation consultant in Grand Prairie, TX can also help young professional parents schedule their breastfeeding efficiently so that they can return to work quicker, while others might specialize in helping with breastfeeding anxiety issues.

It is never too late to hire a certified lactation consultant in Grand Prairie, TX. These breastfeeding consultants can also offer emotional breastfeeding support that can be valuable to those who lack family or workplace support. A lactation consultant can also be critical in identifying warning signs that might indicate more serious growth or developmental issues.

There are many documented benefits to breastfeeding, and parents often believe that it will be an easy and natural experience. Unfortunately, many parents run into issues such as low milk supply, nipple engorgement, or latching problems that can affect their baby’s health. These lactation specialists can be useful for troubleshooting, advice, or emotional support.

Certified lactation consultants can strengthen the bond between parents and their babies through breastfeeding advice, tips, and support. This might include showing parents how to help their baby latch properly, establishing feeding schedules, or dealing with sore nipples or engorgement. A lactation consultant can help new parents better understand their baby’s needs in general, and monitor the baby’s growth and development.

Lactation specialists in Grand Prairie, TX also offer emotional support and help parents breastfeed more efficiently so that they can get back to work and allow them to better manage expectations. Many parents face issues where they cannot breastfeed in the workplace, or do not have the family support or time to ensure that their child is breastfed properly and with care. These expert consultants can also provide a significant amount of moral support, diagnose breastfeeding issues, while also solving issues such as latching, positioning, and scheduling.
