I am a married mother of 6. I decided to begin my doula journey later in my life while pregnant with my 6th child. I am very understanding and empathetic to many birth situations and strive to provide the tools necessary for a successful birth. Healthy mom and healthy baby are the goal, however you will remember your birth and it is very important as well! I hope to preserve the memory of your birth in a positive light.

Care philosophy

I believe all persons giving birth deserve to have non judgmental support for that special event. Birth is spontaneous and while we may not get the exact outcome that we want, I will give you the tools to give you the best birth possible.

I have been a massage therapist for 15 years and a birth doula for 7 years. One of the best things about still being a massage therapist is every session gives me a unique chance to refine my focused awareness, intuition, knowledge, and craft. This supports what I do as a doula in the biggest way possible. All the knowledge I’ve attained over the years has seamlessly flowed into an advanced and intuitive birth practice. It's important to me that my clients feel safe, supported, and empowered. If you’re currently pregnant you may be wondering what your options are for health care providers, birthing locations, and doula support. I want you to know you have options! As an experienced doula and childbirth educator, I can assist you in preparing for your beautiful experience, however and wherever you choose to birth!

Care philosophy

I’m Celia Aldape, owner of With Guided Hands. I’m an experienced Certified Doula, Certified Prenatal Massage Therapist, and Certified Childbirth Educator. If you do know Celia, consider yourself blessed. This woman is of adifferent caliber. When choosing a doula, I wanted someone who could fit into my sacred birthing space. After interviewing several doulas, I finally spoke to Celia, and within the first 5 minutes, I knew she was the necessary puzzle piece for my pregnancy, birth and beyond. Her energy was so positive and I could feel a sense of joy and warmth radiating outward. As a massage therapist, Celia gave me such a gift of relaxation and calm, both of which I got to carry out into my birth. As a doula, Celia helped empower me in countless ways. Through childbirth education for my husband and I, we felt so prepared for our daughter’s arrival. Through Celia’s gentle touch, words of affirmation and encouragement, I felt fearless. Through her constant reassurance after my birth, I felt supported. At every mile marker of our journey, Celia was there, strong, fierce, yet calm, meeting me where I was and supporting me exactly in the way I needed. I would choose Celia over and over again as my doula. She has no idea the profound impact she had on my life and the lives of my children and husband.

T’Arah Craig

Hi! I’m T’Arah Craig, CD(DONA). As a doula, I accompany birthing families in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I have had experience with over 200+ births all over the DFW area. It has been 9 years since I attended my first birth as a doula, and every experience since then has been a gift. I chose to become a doula because I knew that the best way for me to help the individuals of the world is through evidenced-based information and an instinctual knowledge of comfort, care, and strength. I believe that all life givers have a power within them to create a positive environment for their children beginning from the moment they enter the womb and continuing for the rest of their lives. I began my birth journey from a young age as the oldest of 7 children and 14 grandchildren. Being there during the amazing birth experiences of the life givers in my family and of my friends inspired an innate need to nurture and care for an individual and their partner during one of their most life changing milestones.

Care philosophy

I truly believe that we have an inherent and instinctual knowledge of our bodies. For many people this can mean, 'My body knows how to birth this baby.' I believe in this phrase in the truest sense of the words, which is why I am there to support you through any way your body was made to birth: Vaginally, Unmedicated, Cesarean, through Surrogacy.

WE LOVE T’ARAH!!! My husband and I decided at 36 weeks pregnant that it would be the best choice for us to add a doula to our birth team for reasons of wanting advocacy, mental and physical support for both of us. I felt an instant comfortability with T’Arah; I was totally comfortable with going into detail of my previous birth, which had been a traumatic experience, and could sense that she was sincerely invested in mine and my husband’s concerns, wishes and preferences.. She listened, asked questions, provided advice and input and acknowledged my feelings. When the time came to be induced and start our Childbirth journey, T’Arah was present and alert, providing all the support we both needed from walking, getting snacks/drinks, talking, joking, massaging, physically holding me up, counseling, calming, etc.. in spite of being induced, T’Arah encouraged us in taking every step we could to have a birth that we truly wanted, and I succeeded in taking it one step at a time to have the natural birth I had wished for without further intervention. T’Arah played a key role in helping me have a birth experience that I am proud of and I will always be grateful to her for that. We will definitely have T’Arah as our Doula for any future babies!

For my first birth, my goal was a more natural delivery in a hospital and I knew it would be important for me to have a doula. My husband and I had two meetings with Lama before my due date and went over my birth plan and preferences in great detail. Long story short, I found out the week before my due date that the hospital changed policies and wouldn’t allow doulas…

Despite the major change in plans, Lama came to my house to help me through early stages of labor and coach my husband on counter pressure. Once at the hospital, she offered vital virtual support throughout my labor.

What I also found to be very helpful was her support postpartum. Lama has been a great resource for self-care, healing, and breastfeeding – answering my (many) texts and questions day or night.

I am so grateful for Lama and her passion for birth!

My work as a doula began in the 90s when I supported my best friend during her birth. I trained as a birth doula in 2000 and shadowed a group of doulas for about a year. In addition, I spent 10 years working as a postpartum doula and newborn/infant care specialist. I chose not to certify with a larger doula agency as I did not want the agency governing my work. In 2014, I completed training as a certified medical assistant. Then went on to work for a chiropractor and a pediatrician for 2 years. I also spent a few years working with children and families experiencing hardships, while continuing to serve my doula clients. I have a love for learning and have continued my education becoming certified in my doula work and being trained in a variety of areas. These areas include baby-led weaning, safe sleep practices, car seat safety, and lactation.

Care philosophy

I support families during their journey no matter what it may look like. My clients have a VIP experience. There is a time and a place for modern medicine. However, naturalistic and wholistic healing is where I gravitate when coaching families through their journey. Every family needs to be supported in having the birth they choose, YOUR birth, YOUR way!

I cannot articulate into words the admiration and love I have for Kesha. She has so much love in her heart for the Lord, and that love shines through in all things she does. Her clients could not be in better hands, as Kesha supports and “mothers the mother” like no other doula I’ve had the privilege of working with. Over the years, Kesha has become a cherished friend – you can’t help but love her. Kesha has also proven to be an exemplary doula throughout the years and her skills are unparalleled, so much so that Kesha is now our lead doula trainer for The Elite Doula & Co Training Academy. I’d honestly be lost without her! 100 stars!!!

I believe that birth work is something that I have been called to do. Through the use of my training, teachings, and life experiences. I set out to empower women to find answers and understanding within themselves, their bodies, and trusted informational resources. My passion for the safe guarding of women's perinatal experience has pushed me to become a member of the National Black Doula Association & DONA Internationally certified birth doula. DONA's belief is that every mother should have a doula, no matter financial circumstance, birth preferences, or background. I value and cherish our partnership and each birth experience that I am blessed to be apart of and hold the care of you and your baby as my highest priority. I will be available for your weird questions, concerns, myth buster needs, but mostly to surround you in support, whatever that may look or feel like. I am open minded and welcome any new research or interesting findings that you may bring to me and I will be honest and upfront if there are things that I do not yet know. With that said I will always follow up with you once I have done my due diligence to find credible sources for any information you may need.

Care philosophy

They say "it takes a village to raise a child" and that's also incredibly true for bringing a new baby earthside. As your doula I work alongside your family and healthcare provider, to become the village you need during this sacred transitional period. As your family prepares for the delivery of your child & your healthcare provider prepares to care for you and & your baby's health, I help prepare

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

There are two ways you can hire a doula through Meela in Fort Worth, TX.

You can browse through the available doulas in Fort Worth, TX and send the doulas you are interested in a message, introducing yourself and setting up an interview. We recommend interviewing at least three before hiring your top doula.

You can also hire a doula in Fort Worth, TX in three easy steps:

  1. Post a job for free: answer some questions and receive responses from top-rated doulas in Fort Worth, TX. It takes less than 30 seconds to post your job.
  1. Get your list of Fort Worth, TX doulas: in a few hours, you will have a collection of doulas near you who are qualified to meet your needs. You can compare pricing, experience and read reviews. You can chat with each doula to learn more about them.
  1. Hire a doula with confidence: schedule virtual or in-person interviews with your top doula choices. Hire your top doula and start getting the care you deserve.

While the cost of a doula can vary based on experience and the services offered, the average cost of a doula in Fort Worth, TX is $941, but can typically range from $733 to $1,149. These costs are based on a representative group of 27 doulas surveyed by Meela in the Fort Worth area. The average cost of a doula in Fort Worth, TX is about the same as the average cost of a doula in the state of Texas, which is $914.

To put this in further context, the cost of a doula in Fort Worth, TX is about the same as the U.S. national average cost of a doula, which is $971.

When hiring a birth doula in Fort Worth, TX, you and your doula will discuss and agree upon a fee structure, and your doula will send you itemized invoices through Meela, which you can pay securely through the app.

Some insurance companies will cover all or part of the cost of hiring a doula. Contact your insurance company to find out if they offer any coverage for hiring a doula; not all insurance companies do.

You can hire two types of doulas in Fort Worth, TX: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Fort Worth, TX, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Fort Worth, TX can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Fort Worth, TX does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Fort Worth, TX will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Fort Worth, TX can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Fort Worth, TX; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
