I love being a doula. In fact when my friends and family hear that I have studied to be a certified doula, they smile and say, you will make a great doula. why? because I have that positive loving energy that makes everyone feel at ease. They also say that I have a take charge personality when I need to step up. I always get the job done. Maybe that's true because for the last 15 years I have worked as a health care consultant project manager. I understand healthcare from many different levels. I bring that professionalism to my work as a doula.

Care philosophy

Everyone may be able to share their birth experience, but yours is a unique experience. I want to provide you with the tools you need to have the experience you most want for yourself and for your family. We can build it together.

As a doula with seven years of experience in newborn and infant care, I understand the unique challenges that families face during the postpartum period. My philosophy is centered around providing compassionate care and guidance to help families navigate this exciting and challenging time. My primary focus is on newborn and infant care. Whether you're chest-feeding or bottle-feeding, I offer support and guidance to help you feel confident and empowered. I can also help with bathing, diapering, and other everyday tasks that come with caring for a newborn. I also offer meal prep and planning services. I know that finding time to cook healthy meals can be tough when you're caring for a newborn. I can also help with light housekeeping tasks, so parents can focus on bonding with their little ones. In addition to practical support, I offer emotional support and guidance to help parents adjust to their new roles. I know that the postpartum period can be overwhelming and emotional, so I'm always here to listen and offer words of encouragement. Even if in-home care is not something you are looking for, I can help with errands and other tasks that may be difficult to manage with a newborn or little ones. Whether you need help with grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, or running other errands, I'm here to help. Overall, my goal as a doula is to offer comprehensive support that addresses all of your needs during this exciting and challenging time. Whether you're a first-time parent or you're just needing an extra set of hands , I'm here to help you feel confident and empowered as you navigate this new chapter of your life.

Aiesha provides such valuable support during the postpartum period. We work together remotely, and even though we live in different states, I feel like I can rely on her for a wide range of resources. She is knowledgeable about the care that infants need as well as evidence-based strategies to support them, and she is incredibly empathetic to mothers and their needs as well. She normalizes and holds space for all my feelings as a new mother, offers advice on how to navigate the challenges of raising a rapidly-growing baby, and always respects my opinions and boundaries when problem solving with me. If only I was lucky enough to live near her and receive all the additional support she can provide to her local clients! I truly enjoy the expertise and camaraderie I find in working with Aiesha, and I believe any new family would be lucky to receive her services!

I came into birth work in 2018, I have always wanted to support pregnant people and think that being a witness to birth is one of the greatest gifts of life. Before birth work, I was a preschool teacher for a number of years. My doula services are evidence based and I make sure my clients are supported throughout their pregnancy and postpartum. I provide postpartum services as well as birth doula services. I have been trained in the Rebozo technique to provide pain management throughout the labor process. Aside from the Rebozo I also have been trained in trauma informed care and provide support for pregnancy and infant loss. I am intuitive and nurturing and that shows through my support I give each client.

Care philosophy

Empowering and educating pregnant people through my nurturing and evidence based resources. I believe that feeling supported and having all the information during your pregnancy and labor is an important role that I, as a doula, will provide. Whichever way you decide to labor I will be there to hold the space and make sure you feel empowered, supported, and confident.

I had the privilege of having Zelle as a doula with my agency, Redwood Doulas, and as my birth partner with clients. She is warm, compassionate, knowledgeable, funny, and has a calm about her that soothes clients and babies. She is wonderful at attuning to a client and anticipating their needs, is a wonderful cook, and became a trusted member of the family for each of the clients she worked with. I can’t fully express how impressed I am at her skillset in supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Hire her, you will not be disappointed.

www.thestatesvilledoula.com My passion for birth work began after the somewhat traumatic birth of my oldest in 2010. I left that birth with what I had believed to be empowerment but soon after, realized the empowerment I felt was based off of my consistently advocating for and defending myself in the birth space. I realized we shouldn't HAVE to fight for how we want to birth in order to feel a false sense of empowerment. Once I had this epiphany, I felt in my heart of hearts that I never wanted another birthing person to have to jump through hurdles to have the birth they desire. Now, I support all birthing people and their families through this journey called birth and I ABSOLUTELY respect and honor the process and the family. I finally went on to have two more completely healing water births and actually base the healing on becoming informed after my first birth. The well known quote "Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life," is my mantra. I love what I do, I love the people I meet, and I am humbled and honored to witness families being born or growing. In 2010, after the birth of my oldest daughter, I signed up with DONA as a birth doula. Since then, I have constantly immersed myself in all things pregnancy and birth. Once I moved to North Carolina, I decided that I needed a more inclusive and comprehensive training and decided to train through Bebo Mia, a Canadian based doula training agency. Through them, I grew as a person and as a doula and truly feel as though I am able to provide COMPLETELY unbiased and evidence based care and research to each and every person and family I meet. At the same time, I trained and certified as a placenta specialist through IPPA, International Placenta and Postpartum Association. Recently, I became certified as a stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula offering bereavement services and support to those who experience a loss in any trimester of their pregnancy. Lastly (but not least), I am a trained Hypnobabies® Hypno-Doula supporting families who choose hypnosis for childbirth.

Care philosophy

www.thestatesvilledoula.com I am a strong believer in birthers, babies and the inherent wisdom and instinctual capabilities within all of us to give birth in the way that suits us best. I believe in birth and I believe in support during birth. You know how best to birth your baby, whether it be via cesarean birth, vaginal birth, water birth, or fully medicated birth and I am here to support you.

With Covid visitor restrictions, I knew my husband and I needed additional support for our birth. Due to Staci being a verified doula through our local hospital system, she was able to attend in person. It was an amazing experience. She not only supported me, she supported my husband in the ways he needed. Her presence helped me to have a calm and successful VBAC. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for support!

I found Shannon before I was pregnant and I knew I wanted her to be my doula whenever the time came . I loved her holistic approach to pregnancy and motherhood. She is so sweet and I would leave every meeting together with more confidence in myself and my body to have a natural birth. I credit her skills for helping me progress through labor fairly quickly for a first time mom. Her postpartum visits are everything a new mom needs with a newborn!

A postpartum doula in Concord, NC is meant to help the entire family and their role is not just limited to the birthing parent and newborn. A doula provides physical and emotional support to parents and siblings, but they also offer information and advice regarding how to feed, bathe, swaddle, and soothe the baby.

They also often help with postpartum depression issues, and are considered child care “consultants” rather than medical professionals. Many postpartum doulas in Concord, NC offer a range of services that can help with parents trying to adjust to a newborn child. These services often include:

  • Sibling care
  • Assist with household chores
  • Parent-baby bonding
  • Physical and emotional recovery
  • Support to parents and extended family

A postpartum doula in Concord, NC can have a lasting positive impact on a family and help them feel more confident about their parenting role and the way that they feed and nurture their baby. They might offer advice regarding feeding, bathing, and parent-baby bonding.

It is important to note that a postpartum doula might offer advice but is not expected to provide medical care of any kind or serve as a replacement to an accredited physician. Postpartum doulas are also not qualified to prescribe medication.

Many new parents want to know about certified postpartum doulas and how exactly they are certified. Since the demand for postpartum doulas has greatly expanded in the last several years, the number of reputable postpartum doula training and certification programs has grown in Concord, NC. Training criteria can differ from program to program, but most follow a similar curriculum which includes core academic curriculum and practical hours and real-life care experience.

One of the most common national postpartum doula training certifications comes from DONA International. A postpartum doula usually receives about 27 hours of practical training before they are a certified postpartum doula.

There are also CAPPA-certified postpartum doulas in Concord, NC, as well. These doulas were certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, an international organization that certifies doulas and other childbirth educators/professionals.

As a reminder, because postpartum doulas are not trained to be a medical professional and diagnose and treat medical conditions, a certification is not required for them to practice.

As their names suggest, a birth doula’s main priority is to provide support services before, during and in the moments immediately after childbirth. A postpartum doula’s obligations usually begin after the birth, for several weeks or months. In many cases, your birth doula will also be a trained and certified postpartum doula, which can provide a continuity of care that many parents find extremely valuable.

Many parents want to know whether a postpartum doula or a baby nurse would meet their needs and expectations. A baby nurse might be focused on making sure that a baby sleeps or feeds properly, but that might be the extent of their role. A postpartum doula generally offers more holistic services for their clients.

A postpartum doula in Concord, NC is expected to be more involved with the family as a whole. They might remain involved in sibling care or also provide emotional support to the partner as both parents adjust to becoming new parents. This may even include support for older siblings, light housework, and even meal prep. A postpartum doula provides more physical, emotional, and informational support than a baby nurse.

You can hire two types of doulas in Concord, NC: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.
