I was born to be a labor Doula! I love what I do and am humbled at the opportunities that my career has given me. I have been practicing for over 17 years and in that time, have helped close to 400 families bring their babies into the world. I began my career after having a less than ideal birth with my first son. I educated myself much better the second time and had such an amazing experience that I knew I had to help others find the same joy and strength that I had found in myself. Thus began Doula Baby! I want to be the help and peace that is desired during one of the most wonderful moments of your life! I want to help insure that the birth of your baby is everything that you want it to be!

Care philosophy

The experience itself. It belongs to the mother and her partner alone. To be able to enjoy this time, moms have to understand what is happening to their bodies, and be able to react based on this information. I want most to educate and support women about the process and to be able to go into labor knowing that this experience is only theirs and their partners, based on communication and trust.

From a dad’s perspective… WOW! I don’t even know where to begin with how to explain how amazing it was having Jill there to help guide us throughout this amazingly wonderful and terrifying experience. To all the dads out there, having a doula like Jill will make your life so much easier when your partner is delivering your baby. Jill made it so I could concentrate on supporting and encouraging my wife so that I didn’t have to worry about a lot of the other stuff. The moment I fully realized the benefit of having Jill with us in the hospital was when something happened and Jill asked me to get the nurse to update them. If Jill was not in the room with us it would have been just my wife and I. There is no way that I would have known to go get a nurse and that was one of the scarier thoughts that I had. I remember looking at my wife and saying “I’m so glad that Jill is here” with a slightly terrified look on my face. Jill thought of everything and prepared me so well for helping my wife deliver our son. She is such a calming presence that you can’t help but stay calm and positive during the delivery. It was such an amazing experience that I honestly don’t know why we would ever not have her for any future pregnancies. Jill is like part of our family and will be one of the first people that we call when we are pregnant again!

I believe that commitment to the present, nature + self-love will give us the foundation for all that we need. I also STAND FOR & SERVE ALL BIRTHS! Woman's birth, BLACK BIRTH , LGBTQ+, and surrogate. PLEASE NOTE: I TRY to refrain from using "Mom, Mama, Mother, woman" terms only. To prove that all birth IS REAL BIRTH and all birthing human's matter! ? I am a Colorado-bred woman, passionate birth worker, Mother, and licensed esthetician. I have a unique drive to serve my clients to give them the beautiful, carefully planned, and cared for childbirth experience they have always dreamt of. Every birthing human has her own idea for her birth plan. I aim to customize every aspect of our time together, and even a little while after your baby (or babies!) is/are earthside! Some birthing humans desire to give in to their primal instincts and roar with each contraction and to give birth at home or outside. Some birthing humans prefer to deliver in the hospital or birthing center, with fairy lights and music. And some birthing humans want a combination. The possibilities are endless for your birth. I cannot wait to help make them real for you! To conclude, I have been passionate about birth and empowering women to have a positive experience, as they see it, ever since I gave birth to my son 10 years ago now. Most importantly, my support comes without opinions or judgment. I understand that you will make the best choices for your family and I am honored to be by your side as you do. After working together, I promise that you can settle into your life with a newborn knowing you have built a solid support system with me. I am looking forward to being part of your birthing team! Feel free to visit my social media platforms to get to know me as a Doula. If you are ready to go, or have questions about anything, contact me and we can set up a time for a cup of coffee and a chat!

Dakota is a Certified Birth Doula, Full-Spectrum Doula (birth, postpartum, miscarriage, termination and loss), Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and Ceremonialist living in Lyons, Colorado. She is also a student midwife who occasionally assists a home-birth midwife in the Boulder area and provides an assortment of other offerings for the childbearing continuum like Childbirth Education, Belly Binding, Council Circles and Mother/Parent Roasting, etc. Avidly studying birth since 2010, Dakota has always known that this was her “calling”. Through her years of doula and midwifery training in Bali, North Carolina, Vermont and Colorado, she deeply understands the importance of families feeling educated and empowered during their birthing experience and the impact that can have on the newborn child’s life, the family unit as a whole and the wider community. Dakota fiercely advocates for her clients in all birth settings and holds a larger vision of birth as a transformative Rite of Passage. She is passionate about holding space for clients who are interested in bringing more intention and sacredness to their birthing journey through a variety of ceremonial offerings (mother/parent honoring ceremonies, yoni steaming and sealing ceremonies, to list just a few). Dakota is also one of the founding members of The Mother’s Center in Boulder (www.themotherscenter.org). There, she holds donation-based council circles for pregnant and postpartum people in the community, as well as an assortment of other offerings like Kirtan (devotional chanting), meditation, community potlucks and many different types of workshops and ceremonies. When she is not at a birth or holding space at The Mother’s Center, you can find Dakota soaking in natural hot springs around the state, dancing the 5-Rhythms, sitting in women’s circles and probably using way too much ghee when cooking!

Care philosophy

"Matrescence" (according to anthropologist Dana Rafael) is the birth of a Mother/Parent. The Rite of Passage. It is with love and presence that I hold your hand during this Sacred Transition. And I honor your personal story. Each transition into parenthood is unique. Whatever the outcome of your pregnancy, I am here with you. I will advocate for and support *your* choice and *your* intuition.

Ellen was responsive and thoughtful throughout my pregnancy and birth. She frequently met with me to plan out my desired vision of a home birth. Although this was my second labor and birth, Ellen would often think of things I never would have on my own. She was always kind and patient with me and my other family members. During the birth, if I didn’t require her immediate attention, she was helping my midwives or tending to our oldest child. Ellen has an arsenal of comforting techniques and combined with her tender disposition and confident demeanor, I trusted Ellen to know what to do and when. Ellen even comforted my mother when she needed it. When Ellen was present, I felt safe and well cared for. She helped create the perfect atmosphere to welcome a new baby into this world and a can’t recommend her enough!

I am a DONA-Certified birth doula. I help families work toward their goals for birth. I meet with couples a couple times before birth to find out their specific goals for during birth. During labor, I am there to offer emotional, physical, and informational support. Unlike a doctor or nurse, I don't have a shift. I am there continuously until a couple hours after the birth. I do not perform any medical procedures. I am there for support. I work with couples no matter what kind of birth they are planning whether it is a natural birth, epidural, or c-section.

Care philosophy

My hope is that you have the most satisfying birth as YOU define it. I am there to provide emotional, physical and informational support no matter how or where you decide to give birth. I want to help create a calm and relaxing atmosphere so that you feel empowered and strong. I am thankful and honored any time I am invited to be part of such an intimate time for a family.

Kelly was an amazing doula to me for the birth of my second daughter! My birth experience did not go as I was hoping, but Kelly’s support and encouragement made a huge difference and made the experience much more positive! She took turns with my husband pressing on my hips during every contraction, let me squeeze her hand, was a support person for my husband, prayed for me when things got really tough, came in the middle of the night and stayed until morning, texted and called me before and after the birth and always let me know she was there for me, and was so supportive when I was not at my best. I don’t think I could have gotten through that birth experience without Kelly. Kelly is very knowledgable about birth, labor positions, comfort techniques, and breastfeeding. Kelly is an awesome doula!

As a birth doula I am here to support you before, during and after baby's birthday. I will be providing you with resources throughout your journey to make informed decisions. We will have two prenatal meetings and during those meetings we will go over your birth wishes. We will discuss the benefits & risks of each choice you have, discuss what could happen, practice comfort measures including: rebozo work, counter-pressure, pelvic release, hip squeezes, positions to encourage baby's descent & anterior position and open your pelvis by 25% more. We will discuss how you can best prepare yourself for immediately after the birth of your child(ren). I will be with you at the onset of active labor and all the way through to 1-2 hours postpartum. I am there as well to take the primary support role so your partner can take a rest, nap, grab fresh air, eat, etc. More importantly, I am there to enhance our partner's role and so they do not have to remember everything you both learned during childbirth classes. If you wish to breastfeed I am there to help support a good first latch as I am trained in breastfeeding basics. During the baby's birth story I will be taking notes so we can discuss your story during postpartum. You will have 1-2 postpartum meetings to go over your birth story, support breastfeeding if you wish and to answer any newborn care questions. As your postpartum doula, I support the whole family as you adjust to welcoming baby/babies into your life. I will: -Nurture your family with loving hands and heart to meet you exactly where you are, offering non-judgmental support. -Educate your family by modeling behavior, observing and offering options. -Assess the environment constantly in order to best assist you and your family. -Refer you to resources and referrals, and assist you with the skills to seek out resources and referrals. I will care for your family during the first three months, by providing you with non-medical support and companionship. I will assist with newborn care & sibling adjustment (includes furry siblings), meal prep, household organization, offer evidence based information on infant feeding, emotional & physical recovery from childbirth and other issues related to the postpartum period.

Care philosophy

My desire as a doula is to support you in a way that allows and encourages your birth wishes to be achieved. I will provide support physically, emotionally, spiritually (for some) and provide you with resources so you can make informed decisions. Once baby(s) arrive I will nurture you as parent(s) and respect your parenting style to best support you during postpartum.

Ever since seeing my brother born in a birth center at age 7, I knew that an unmedicated birth at a birth center was my goal. After two amazing birth experiences (following three pregnancies), one with my daughter, and one as a surrogate for a beautiful baby boy in January 2015, I could not be more excited to help other persons achieve their own birth goals! While my official doula journey started in 2015, I have been supporting people in various capacities my whole life, and this was just the official next step. I received my birth doula certification through DONA International, and have continued to study the body, birth, and supporting the birthing person since.

Care philosophy

A doula is almost like a birth sherpa, someone who has walked the path, and can help people navigate the twists and turns of this particular journey. As your doula, I'm there to help people handle the intense emotional and physical aspects of birth, as well as help the Birthing Person tap into their innate potential to birth.

I started as a birth doula in 2001. I have supported over 200 families at the birth of their child and as they provide surrogate services. I am certified through three professional doula training organizations, and trained through a fourth organization. I am certified as a birth doula, a postpartum doula, a placenta encapsulation specialist, and a childbirth educator. One of my birth certifications is specialized as a Birth and Bereavement Doula. My strengths are in my experience, and in my ability to attune to the very individual needs of the birthing person, and bringing a sense of calm to the birth space.

I have been assisting family and friends with birth for about 12 years. I saw my first birth when I was 13 and knew the birth world was a perfect fit for my heart. I have three children, two girls and a boy. All of my birth experiences were very different, but my son's birth is what helped me decide to pursue my Birth Doula certification. I had overwhelming support from my midwife in such a way that his un-medicated, natural water birth was serene and one I'll never forget. My Birth Doula package includes two prenatal visits at your home, generally two hours long, support for your entire labor and delivery up to two hours postpartum (flexible), one postpartum visit in your home as well as unlimited email, phone and text support from the time of hire.

Care philosophy

I believe that every birthing family deserves support through one of the biggest transitions of their lives. I'm here to offer emotional, physical and mental support for my families. Birth is such a beautiful blessing and I want to ensure my families have the education, encouragement and comfort they deserve.

My husband and I were referred to Amanda by a friend who was a former client of hers. Upon meeting Amanda, I instantly connected with her and appreciated her warm and confident presence. She is very well-versed in her trade and was a constant for us as we prepared for the birth of our first child, during child labor and beyond. Amanda was attentive to our needs and aware of surroundings. I felt confident going into child labor that Amanda was on our side and would do all possible to make it a joyful experience. Being a doula and supporting any person/couple who desires that kind of support is a passion & deep desire of my heart. My birth stories are 2 of the most significant events in my life - they were beautiful, challenging, empowering, and deeply personal to me. The support I received at both births had such a profound impact on each birth story and the outcome. My desire is to support, encourage, and hold space without judgement or critique for birthing people so that their birth stories are ones of positivity, empowerment, intimacy and joy. I provide 2 prenatal visits where we establish your birth goals, discuss labor and birth, and establish a trusting relationship for you and your partner. I work closely with partners so that they are empowered, equipped, and confident as your number one support in labor and are as involved as they choose to be. Once in labor, I am with you constantly, as well as immediate postpartum. I do a follow-up postpartum visit within 2 weeks of birth to go over breastfeeding, baby wearing, other helpful tips and suggestions that go along with settling in and transitioning into parenthood, and most significantly, processing your birth experience. I have multiple packages available based on what kind of support you desire. I also have a scholarship fund made of contributions from previous clients that can be used to help with the investment, if financial assistance is needed.

Care philosophy

I work closely with my clients/partners to build a strong, safe, and trusting relationship providing emotional, physical, & with informational support & advocacy. My goal is to support your birth goals & preferences, resulting in your birth experience being as positive & meaningful as possible. Being invited into a birth is an honor, I aim to provide the support that the role deserves.

Anna provides the perfect balance of business and bedside manner. While it was clear from the outset that she was incredibly knowledgeable about the birthing process and all it entails, it was the caring, empathic energy that exuded from her that sealed the deal for us. She took time to truly get to know us, our goals for our birthing process, as well as understanding that when it’s go time, things can fly out the window. We felt over-prepared, in the best way possible, for our journey to meeting our little man. When labor did arrive, Anna was the eagle scout we all need: prepared with all the tools (from snacks to juice to appropriate and timely interventions) necessary to make labor as comfortable and joyful as it could possibly be.
We cannot say enough good things about Anna so we will leave it at this: If you are contemplating utilizing the services of a professional doula, you will be doing yourself a disservice if you pass up the opportunity to have Anna be a part of your process.

As a doula, I am honored to be welcomed along your families journey, helping you to discover and believe in your own strength, to trust your heart and body. To empower you! Experiencing my own births opened my heart to this amazing feeling of empowerment and connection with my body, my partner and my children. With each pregnancy I learned more. With each birth I chose a new path. I grew as a woman and as a mother. I wasn't educated on birth at first, I didn't know that it was a natural process, I didn't have the support that is so very needed while in this fragile state. My first two births weren't on my own terms, but through my third and fourth, I listened to my body, I learned to trust my body. This is what brought me to become a doula! -Jessica

I work with a doula agency, Intuitive Birth. There are three of us doulas, I enjoy working with a team. My journey began about seven years ago when I started to get asked to support single mom's during pregnancy and labor. My passion continued to grow into something larger. I knew then that I wanted to dive into childbirth work full time! I am a certified birth doula with DONA and I am also trained as a childbirth educator through CAPPA where I will soon offer a series of childbirth classes to families. My doula services include a complimentary meet and greet, two prenatal visits, unlimited hours of labor support and one postpartum visit. I do offer breastfeeding support to my clients.

Care philosophy

My goal as a birth doula is to provide you with the education and support to achieve your desired birth. No matter your kind of birth, medicated or not medicated, I will support your decision and give you the best possible education and care. I believe that all families need support during pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

I offer a variety of packages and I am always willing to work with families to find the support that works best for them. My main goals are to ensure birthing people and families are supported both mentally and physically and that they have the resources they need to make informed decisions. I coach you to be your own advocate through this journey and I am a listening ear and calming presence along the way.

Care philosophy

After experiencing the transition into motherhood, I knew I wanted to be the support and anchor for others. I'm a listening ear, a calming touch, the gentle reminder to breathe, the shoulder to lean on. No matter what type of birth you choose, I will never judge or persuade, only you know what's best for your family. My philosophy is support without judgment and to be a calming, guiding presence.

Doula Services: FAQs

A doula is a professional that provides emotional, physical and educational support to new parents before, during, and after childbirth and into the early postpartum period. Doulas are companions who strive to give families a safe, positive, and healthy labor experience. They provide parents with evidence-based information and education on childbirth and are someone who the parent can turn to with questions and concerns about having a baby. Doulas also take an active role in collaborating with the parent to create a birth plan.

A certified birth doula offers advice and techniques to help reduce the stress that the parent often experiences during childbirth and provides you with education about different aspects of delivery and labor and what comes after.

You can hire two types of doulas in Broomfield, CO: a birth doula and a postpartum doula. The birth doula is during your pregnancy and through the birth of your child. They provide you with emotional, physical and educational support during your pregnancy, your labor and delivery and for the first few hours after your child is born.

A postpartum doula will support you for the first few weeks after the baby is born. They provide in-home assistance, including teaching you how to take care of your newborn, acting as lactation consultant, and can provide some night nanny services.

Yes, a birth doula can provide support during a Cesarean birth and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals and do not replace obstetricians, physicians, midwives or nurses. They are an additive member to the team and provide emotional, physical and informational support to the birthing parent, partner and family. It is up to you whether the certified doula can remain in the operating room during the procedure.

When you hire a doula in Broomfield, CO, your services typically include several in-person prenatal sessions, 24/7 phone and text support, full attendance throughout your labor, and several hours of support immediately following your birth.

A doula in Broomfield, CO can help you in any kind of birth. Certified doulas are able to assist parents in creating the ideal “birth environment” and help parents deliver their baby safely. A doula can provide support during the birth whether it occurs in a hospital, a home, or another birth center of some kind. Doulas are there to support you in your desired birth preferences, whether that is a preference for natural, non-medicated, assisted, C-section or anything else.

Certified doulas can also act as a liaison between you and hospital staff regarding your childbirth expectations and preferences. For example, if your preference is to have a non-medicated birth, a doula can help guide you through that process and create a personalized birth plan. A certified doula in Broomfield, CO does not replace medical staff (such as your obstetrician and nurses).

When a surgical procedure is required, there are some situations in which a birth doula can also remain in the operating room, although this is not an expected obligation. A certified birth doula can also assist hospital staff to improve the overall birthing experience. A doula in Broomfield, CO will typically stay with the parents for several hours after birth to help them with birth recovery.

Evidence suggests that a birth doula in Broomfield, CO can help improve parent satisfaction with their baby’s birth and delivery. The involvement of a doula can also lead to shorter deliveries with less complications.

Recent studies show that parents who have a support person like a doula by their side throughout labor and childbirth are more likely to:

  1. Give birth without the need for pain medicine
  2. Describe their birth experience in a positive way
  3. Give birth without the need for medical intervention, such as C-sections or vacuum delivery
  4. Experience a shorter labor

You can hire a doula early in your pregnancy to allow you time to get to know each other and to begin planning for your later trimesters, labor, birth, and aftercare. It is ideal to hire a doula when you are around 20 weeks along, but you can start looking for one before that.

It is never too late to hire a doula in Broomfield, CO; you have right up to your due date to find a doula near you and receive all the benefits of doula support.

While many people think that a doula and a midwife are the same thing, their educational background and job duties are different. Doulas are non-medical professionals who provide emotional, physical and educational support, while also offering actionable advice and guidance to new parents about how to nurture their baby.

A midwife is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) or a certified midwife (CM). CNMs are medical professionals that are certified and licensed by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. CMs are also certified, but they do not have nursing backgrounds.

Doulas are not medical professionals; they focus on the emotional support for the parents and the family before, during, and after the birth of the baby. Their job is to provide information, advice, and support to the family not diagnose any medical conditions or provide medical advice.
